Right, after some advice on here, I'm finally starting to settle on an army list, but I want some advice/opinions. First of all I want people's opinions/experiences with scorpions? I love the fluff, but they don't seem to do much for me. Maybe I'm getting it wrong. I also want to know people's thoughts on guardians? Does their terrible range let them down that much?
Anyway, here's the list with some comments at the end:
HQ:
Farseer 100 Pts
Spiritseer 70 Pts
Warlock 35 Pts
Troops
10 x guardians + Shuriken cannon platform in a wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields + Cannon 250 Pts
9x dire avengers + exarch with shield of grace and TL AC (considering a diresword instead) in a wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields + Cannon 300 Pts
5 x Wraith guard with D-Scythes in a wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields + Cannon 355 Pts
Elites
5 x striking scorpions + exarch with scorpions claw 142 Pts
Fast attack
5 x warp spiders + exarch with TL DS 129 Pts
Heavy support
4 x dark reapers with starshot missiles + exarch with starshot missiles, fast shot + night vision 217 Pts
Wraith lord with 2 x flamers and 2 x SL 160 Pts
wraith knight 240 Pts
Point total 1998
My dilemma is that if I drop the scorpions I can get a 4th wave serpent for the reapers kitted out just like the others. Although they wouldn't use IG, I've come to learn that serpents are epic. I'm concerned that my numbers then drop below 50 models, and I think eldar need some weight. I've also never used warp spiders before, but I like how they read and think I prefer them to hawks. The reapers are staying. I've had some epic success with them so far, people seem to under estimate them, and with the Farseer guiding them they're quite tasty. I do lack some anti AV14 but my two MC's should deal with that, if not I could arm the afore mentioned 4th serpent with lances or take a lance in place of a SL on The Lord.
I use the iyanden codex so the spirit seer will run with the wraith guard and give them voice of thigh light to get those flamers real close. The warlock with the guardians with conceal on an objective, and the Farseer with the avengers or reapers depending what mood I'm in. It also means The Lord or Knight can be my warlord. Everyone is telling me use the knight, but he's already a huge bullet magnet, plus using The Lord means he can challenge other warlords, precision hit them, and it fits eldar fluff.
All comments welcome.

Executing Exarch
|
As far as scorpions, they are alright for assaulting hordes of terrible melee enemies, or small units they can overwhelm with attacks. Either way, the squad basically serves as a delivery system for the exarch and his sweet claw that will win most challenges hands down, and threatens tanks. They are good disruptor units and will threaten most enemies, really just depends on what you want. I will recommend running more than 6 though, to increase your chances of making combat.
Guardians are fantastic, and the short range is overcome by using a wave serpent to make it to combat. If you want them to camp in the backfield, get one of the 36" guns over the shuricannon. Also, if they are camping why the serpent? The reapers can hide inside t1 for safety, then again the guardians can hide in it too. Dump em out, then go around shooting stuff with the serpent.
The avenger exarch should never use dual catapults, they reduce the cost effectiveness of the squad and offer very little benefit. If you want shield of grace, why not just get a shimmershield? 5++ for the squad is pretty good, and comes with a power weapon. Also, a diresword is not bad, but shield of grace is a bit much as you will want to throw as many attacks as possible to try and kill first. Rare you want the shield of grace.
Warp spiders are different than hawks, it all depends on what you need. Hawks are horde control, with heavy AT as an option. Warp spiders are good against anything but hordes or AV14, and don't have to deep strike like hawks(they work good starting on the table). You can probably just run 5 normal spiders, the exarch is a bit overkill for the squad.
Guided reapers are insanely lethal, just fragile. Not sure anybody would say their shooting sucks, but I would see people saying they are expensive and easily killed.
You use the knight cause he may be a huge bullet magnet, but he has 6 wounds at T8 which is way harder to kill than 3. He also can jump around, keeping him safe. EIther way, I would get the wraithforge stone for your spiritseer. He can use it from the serpent(and measure from the hull) so keep it close to your lord/knight for free healing!

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

All immensely interesting points. The reapers are supposed to hide in some cover for a touch more durability. Ice dropped the scorpions for two squads of 3 bikes each with a shuriken Cannon!
I did not realise the shimmer shield gives the squad invuns, consider me already changing that!! Automatically Appended Next Post: All immensely interesting points.
