Ok so I've come up with an army list (1010pts actually) and was wondering if I should modify it some, or if it's competitive as-is. I've been thinking about adding spyders. What would be good to make it to 1500pts?

Necron Army (1010 pts so far)

HQ:
-Necron Overlord (180pts)
w/WS, Phaeron, MSS, SW, and Res Orb
-Cryptek: Harbinger of Despair (60pts)
w/Veil of Darkness

Troops:
-Warriors x15 (310pts)
-Warriors x5 (65pts)

Dedicated Transports:
-Ghost Ark (115pts)

Elites:
-Deathmarks x5 (95pts)

Fast Attack:
-Canoptek Wraiths x3 (135pts)
w/Whip Coils
-Canoptek Scarabs x5 (75pts)

Heavy Support:
-Annihilation Barge (90pts)
w/Tesla Cannon

I like the list so far, but I have a few suggestions on how to get a little more out of it. Of course, this is only opinion so feel free to approach it how you wish.

Not entirely sure how good the Phaeron on the O.Lord is, though I can see the appeal of getting the charge on something after you've rapid fired it in attempts to finish something off, but not sure it's worth the points. That may be something you need to play test and see if it works for you. Although I will say if something is still alive after a 30 round volley of rapid fire that getting into CC with it may not be something you want to duke it out with.

I'd recommend dropping the Wraiths also. 3 are really really fragile especially without a D. Lord to tank a few shots. this way you also can afford to pick up a second Anni Barge as well as add a few more warriors to your blob, or if points allow a cryptek of some sort to walk with them.

Deathmarks and Despairtek look good.

For 1500 Points I'd recommend packing in 3 spyders for wounds as well as a few more troops. Either another blob with a lord and res orb or a few in Scythes for a little extra fire power and last second objective grabbing. A second 8-10 man squad in a ghost ark isn't a bad idea either to get a little armor saturation (and mobile cover for scarabs/spyders) which can help pull heavy fire away from your spyders.

Good tips. I will definitely be using them. Would you think adding three wraiths and a dlord would be better than ditching them? CC options are limited after all without phaeron. Maybe add three wraths and three spyders? I guess I wouldn't be able to add more warriors though.

The D. Lord helps, but I would recommend at least 4 wraiths for some durability and a little more killing power, but if you have the points/models it's much better to go for a full squad. And I'd even say go full squad without the Destroyer Lord if you want. They work well enough without them. A little less killy, but still pretty durable. Though honestly, between the spyders and scarabs I think you'd be fine. Just use them to screen your warriors and don't be afraid to use the either of them to tie up anything particularly scary. They may not win combat, but being fearless and keeping something like a Wraithknight from assaulting the rest of your more fragile warriors is a good thing.

If it helps, this is something I might run at 1500.

HQ:
O. Lord + W.S + S.W + MSS + RO =160

RC:
Despairtek + veil = 60

Elites: 5x Deathmarks = 95

Troops:
19x Warriors + Ghost Ark = 362
10x Immortals + Tesla = 170
10x Immortals + Tesla = 170

FA:
5x Scarabs = 75
5x Scarabs = 75 (you can make this one large squad too if you want)

Heavy:
2x Anni Barges + Tesla
3x Spyders

Total:
1,497

I don't know how adverse you are to flyers, but I know not everyone strives to use them, but if you want you can easily swap out the Immortals for 5x Warriors in a Scythe and save 10 points between them for something else.

I LOVE both of your 1500pt lists! They're pretty cool. Thank you both so much for taking the time to reply and draw out your own lists, I appreciate the effort.

Ok, so for 1500 pts then I definitely want to add three spiders. I would try out the immortals but model-wise I have zero right now, so I'm thinking stick with the warriors for now. As far as flyers go...I'm torn. I don't feel "right" using them I guess. I'm leaning towards a canoptek list and although flyers seem like a lot of fun to field! I am new to crons and am thinking I should beef up my heavy support choices (spiders and annilhation barges) before going on to those in my bigger lists.

So one more AB and three spiders (naked) takes me to 1250. What should I take from there? I. Thinking more scarabs and incidentally more warriors seeing as they come in the same box and will save me money. But what about more wraiths? Three to six more is doable but then no adding say 5 warriors to each squad and maybe some court members?

Geeze I'm at a real crossroad here haha. I wouldn't bug you guys over this, except that I feel the next couple purchases I make (this weekend) will shape my army for a long time to come.

OK well without flyers in a list you need bigger troop sizes to compensate try something like:

HQ
Overlord - WS, SW, PS, RES ORB

COURT
Lancetek
Lancetek

Troops
19 Warriors (overlord here)
5 Warriors - Ghost Ark (lancetek here)
5 Warriors - Ghost Ark (lancetek here)

FAST ATTACK
6 Canoptek Wraiths
3 Canoptek Scarabs
3 Canpktek Scarabs

HEAVY SUPPORT
3 Canoptek Spyders
Annihilation Barge - Tesla Cannon
Annihilation Barge - Tesla Cannon

This is a fun and durable list, this is my own opinion don't take this list as gospel. One of the best parts of collecting necrons is the ability to make slight changes to a list that makes the whole thing play differently.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I might as well give you an optimised version (imo) of the phalanx list.

HQ
Overlord - WS, PS, SW, RES ORB

ELITE
Triarch Stalker - heavy gauss cannon
Triarch Stalker - heavy gauss cannon

TROOPS
20 Warriors
5 Warriors - Ghost Ark
5 Warriors - Ghost Ark

FAST ATTACK
3 Destroyers - heavy gauss cannons

HEAVY SUPPORT
3 Annihilation Barges - Tesla Cannon

This list is incredibly tough, though its not one I personally play as I prefer the mobility style of necrons over the slow fire base style.

No problem, we try to help as best we can.

And honestly I like both of Kranki's lists. Either one of them will work, the second is more shooty, but they first is pretty balanced too. Really, once you get the spyders and scarabs, it's more season to taste as that is your core list. I personally am more of a fan of the first one, lots of durable and fast moving units with balanced shooting. Has units to die up things in assault/bully weaker units where needed. I think he's done a good job summing up the kind of list you'd probably want. Unless of course you have any other units in mind that you really want to use.

No lychguards with shields..? Want to expand your army, build them into it.

I like the first one too. Triarchs would definitely be fun to add once I get to around to adding more warriors.

As for lychguards...200 pts is a heavy investment in 5 models with one wound. 40pts a model?! Crypteks of various sorts and lords seem the better choice. Granted I've never even tried lychguards before, how do you like them Sautekh? I'm guessing dropping them off in a scythe is the way to go, but alas more points.
