Ok dakkanaughts! With a LOT of help on here, I have settled on my Iyanden wraith army which I will play with for most games. As it's fun, fluffy and pretty tough. HOWEVER, I now want to write a list that's going to be competitive against most/all foes and tournaments. That's where you guys come in. Having never been to a tourney, I'm new to this. Want to know how close to the mark I am, or am not!

Here goes,

HQ

Farseer 115 Pts
Guardian helm

Spiritseer 70 Pts

TROOPS

5 Wraithblades 160 Pts
Axes & Shields (Farseers body guard)

5 Wraithguard 355 Pts
D-Scythes, wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields & Shuricannon (Accompanied by spiritseer)

5 Dire Avengers 240 Pts
Inc exarch with PW & Shimmershiled, wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields & Shuricannon

5 Dire Avengers 240 Pts
Inc exarch with PW & Shimmershield, wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields & Shuricannon

5 Dire Avengers 210 Pts
wave serpent with TL SL, holo fields & Shuricannon

HEAVY SUPPORT

3 War Walkers 210 Pts
2 x SL on all three

Wraithlord 160 Pts
2 x BL

Wraithknight 240 Pts

2000 Pts exactly, and 10 SL's a turn going off! Plus guide on the war walkers mean all 10 are twin linked. 40 S6 shots hitting their mark. I am aware I am a little light on AT, this is my only concern at the moment.

Thoughts?

Personally I would drop the DA exarch w/ shimmer shield. In 5 man squads he not a force multiplier in fact he's the opposite reducing your shot count. Plus when I run 5 man squads they don't get out till turn 4-5 for last minute objective holders. So that free's up 60 points

If your going to guide the warwalkers why not put shuriken cannons? Same strength better ap and possible rending when trying to wound. It's less shot per weapon but possible better outcome. Also if you running sl on them they twin link them selves with laser lock. You mention you have a lack of AT sc + bl combo but that's up to you.

I would take off the exarch DA w/ shimmer

Drop the scatter laser's and add shuriken
-30

Add a squad of 3 bikes plus shuriken cannon for last minute objective holders
+61
Either give farseer a bike or add DA till you fill the point gap.
I would personally give the farseer a bike as it add t and 3+ save.
+15

You also lack things to deal with fliers. I personally play with reapers and ignore fliers till the become a problem but that's just me. If your going into a tourney environment be prepared to look at 3 heldrakes or flying circus just a couple of examples.

The Twilight Zone

While K2 hit on some of the ways to reduce costs for other stuff, Ill touch on some more tactical applications of your list.

Starting with the farseer- Guide support for your walkers is quite nice, and the unit is a fairly tough troop choice for objectives and whatnot. If you manage to roll fortune this unit is near untouchable. Roll on runes of fate first, taking fortune/doom, guide if you don't get either. Roll here till you get guide. Then go to divination or telepathy as needed per opponent. The guardian helm is a good piece of kit, but only take it if your farseer will be your warlord(and not the knight).

Another thing to do is swap your spiritseer into the wraithblade squad. Sitting with the scytheguard is a horrible waste. Spirit mark will not benefit scythes, but it can benefit your lords and knights, as well as blades. All of the powers a spiritseer can get are also best on foot. Voice of twilight is amazing as you can give not only your blades battle focus, but your lord/knight as well! If you get protect/jinx, 2+ armor wraithblades laugh at damage. Destructor/renewer allows you to heal nearby lords/knights, as well as your seers. Excellent power. Invisibility, psychic shriek and hallucination all have a place as well.

Another thing to consider is the wraithforge stone. Healing for the lord or knight is pretty sweet. It does require proximity, so if you have other plans its not required but it is a good value.

I agree about dropping shimmershields and exarches. For fliers guided walkers, lances and serpents should be ok. Helldrakes won't hurt your list all that much anyways. Remember, you can also spirit mark fliers in a pinch.

Dropping scatter lasers from the walkers is dumb unless you are outflanking, then shuircannons are fine. The extra shot and range are well worth the points.

Bikes are never bad, but a jetseer does not make sense here. A ghostglaive on the lord is a good place for spare points, also consider the spear of Teuthlas for your seer.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

The intended warlord is the Farseer, hence the guardian helm. In my experience the knight and lord draw far too much fire power. Too many people think "kill the big things!". I don't intend to hold anything in reserve, I thought the weight of fire the SL's give the walkers make them nice. Point taken on the avengers, I was using the shimmer shield to give them that added layer of protection when deployed on an objective. But if tourney players think that is points wasted then I don't mind removing them. It'll give me points for the wraith forge stone on the Farseer, and the spear. Is there much need for the glaive? Cos the remaining 15 points could be used for vectored engines on the scythes serpent. Allowing them to deploy with rear armour facing forwards, and then pivot after shooting getting the shield back up and in play.

Similarly, what would people lose to go to 1750? They're the two sizes of game we play.
