Hi,

I have recently bought a decent airbrushing kit and am very happy with it, but I have a colouring issue I'm not sure about.

I have a storm raven and two stormtalons ready to paint, but I can't choose which colours to use. I need them for 3 separate armies - blood ravens, salamanders and grey knights (I know the knights cants use the talons). So I need a neutral colour scheme.

This points to black, which would work for all 3 armies, so I'd like to know if anyone has any tips on using an airbrush to make black look good. I'd still like some colour graduation in there rather than just a flat black with details picked out.

So does anyone have any tips for this? Or perhaps a colour scheme that would work with red, green & silver armies? I'm open to being a bit adventurous (like flame motifs).

Many thanks!

Color theory applies regardless if using an airbrush or regular brushes.

The nice thing about airbrushing is it lends itself to blending. If going with black, just highlight up to grey.

Check out Awesome Paint Job's youtube channel, he does some cool things with black paints and inks that makes them look fantastic.

Oh and welcome to dakka dakka.
