Since I started to work with resin, after a short while when sanding with a cheap mask,I can already feel some kind of heaviness in my lungs, so yeah, feth that I will buy quality respirator mask before I continue to work with models. 3M 6200 seems like quite a good deal. Anyone knows which filters would be best suited to work with resin? To protect myself from dust particles. I also read that maybe some fumes can be generated, since when you sand/saw heat is generated which can brake some molecule bonds and release some fumes. So maybe just better to be safe than sorry also about fumes.

Can I use same filters when working with airbrush and using enamel paints etc. or do I need different type of filter?

Thank you

The 3M 6200 respirator should be more than enough for dust and general fumes, not to sure about when using the airbrush though.

For dealing with solvents, you will want a charcoal filter as opposed to a particulate filter. The charcoal ones filter particulate as well...but they are much more expensive and as soon as you open them, they start to loose effectiveness...so you will not normally want to use them for sanding.

The regular P100 filters are fine for resin and cheap. It is favored by drywall hangers and can deal with pretty much any dust resin sanding will generate.

For solvents, 60921 for most hobbyists is fine. It has a built in P100 filter and they are not horribly expensive. Keep in mind though that they do have a limited shelf life, and it shrinks once open. If you are concerned about the vapors, read the documentation on the 3M website and follow it.

If you do a lot of airbrushing with enamels, consider investing in a fume hood style airbrush booth or a supplied air respirator. Both are pricey options, but eleminate the need for replacement cartridges...so if you were like me and going through several cartridges a week, it actually paid for itself in a short period of time.

Thanks!
I will look for P100, and I have also read that wet sanding eliminates lot of dust generated when sanding resin. So combined I think I will be fine.
Do you think I need any eye protection from those particles?

I am not yet familiar with terminology in airbrush. I don't plan to use it that much. For the time being, I only plan to paint 1 marine army, slowly as my collection grows.
Things I will use is:
AK colors(rust set)
Tamiya colors - clear green and clear blue(Hmm,seems these are enamel)
Gloss/matt varnish
some AK effects(chipping,grimes etc.)
white spirit

When you say limited shelf life, how much approximately that is? Since sometimes maybe I won't paint for weeks as I wait for new miniatures or don't have time.

FOr those things, do I need
