Hey guys so with the release of the new codex i thought i'd make a re-entry into the hobby with the intent of building a 1500 point army. I had started an army last winter but had to sell it. So i have made what i think is a pretty good list. It is based around a core of a Termie Captain with a terminator assault squad in a LRR, with enough mobile firepower to back them up. I've found a local club but i haven't been yet so thought i'd make a decent list with respectable anti-horde, anti tank and AA capability.

HQ
Terminator captain
TH/SS
= 150

Troops
Tac Squad 1
5 extra marines
LC
MG
Rhino
= 205

Tac Squad 2
5 extra marines
LC
MG
Rhino
= 205

Scout squad
5 sniper rifles
5 camo cloaks
= 70

Elites
Terminator Assault Squad
2 TH/SS
LRR
= 450

Fast Attack
Attack bike Squadron
2 extra bikes
3 MM
=165

Assault Squad
5 extra marines
2 flamers
Melta bombs
=185

Heavy Support
Hunter
= 70

=1500 points

I think i've addressed everything i could face, thoughts?

Are you planning on splitting up the Tac squads? I haven't used LC with MG before but it seems like an odd mix of long range and close range weapons. I might use a MM and a PG myself.

Yeah i was thinking with the LC combat squad they can sit back and hit tanks and the melta guns could get up close to hit tanks. what about swapping in both the tac squads for PG and PC, so the PC stay mid field and hold objectives and give fire support whilst the rest of the both squads uses the PG to support the termies?

Well if you split them LC and MG should work fine (I have yet to try it yet), though might want to think about give them ones going up close Melta bombs too.

sweet thanks for the idea although I'd have to find 10 points from somewhere else though. The idea of swapping everything for plasma weaponry costs the same as LC and MG, so could work, what you think of that instead? or would i lose too much AT? What are your thoughts on the rest of the list?

I have never had good luck with Assault Squads so far but that might be me favoring a more shooty army. I would trim them down to 5 units, also not sure if the hunter would be good because it only has one attack, maybe a Stalker would be better (helldrake might just keep regaining that wound.)? (Though I haven't used much of ether yet.)

Yeah i can't decide with the stalker or hunter, the hunter is a one shot weapon but has armour bane but the stalker does have the higher rate of fire and can also be used against skimmers and stuff.

Anyone else got some helpful thoughts on my list?
