I got the idea for this list a few days ago while parusing threads about blast heavy armies. I like the idea of Tyranids using whatever they can in terms of absorbed tactics through the hive mind, and figured something like this would become plausible given the prevalence of shooty armies and blobs.

So, I am aware that Harpies aren't considered competitive, but I was wondering just how a list like this would fare in the competitive realm, or if anybody has even tried doing something like this? In total, you have 14 blast/large blasts a turn, with 3 sets causing pinning tests. Then having the Zoans and DoM come in (having taken Telepathy rolls on 4 of 6 Zoans, and Psychic Shriek on DoM) to cause havoc backfield and help clear.

If nothing else, it might give players pause when they see that many blasts flying at them every turn.

Edit: After running 5 test games against various levels of competitive to friendly armies, I must say, the biggest thing I noticed was that people weren't prepared to face a Tyranid army that wasn't about rushing in and hitting first. Of the games where I went first, the biovores pinned enough units that my flyrants were allowed to get in threat range without a huge target on them, and harpies did surprisingly well so long as I paid attention to where their Skyfire units were hunkered down. went 4-1, With the loss coming to TFG running a nasty net Taudar net list... Even then I only lost on secondaries. Quite pleased.

I've had lots of luck using large blasts, mainly biovores and stranglethorn cannons. Biovores are fantastic. The harpy is so fragile, but the rerollable scatter is nice... I would use one if the model existed, honestly.

Don't forget your spore mine barrage from the harpies as well. More pinning goodness.

Deep striking zoans and Doom are 100% excellent. I like your list, just watch out for synapse coverage.

I actually don't see synapse as an issue. All the flyers are synapse, and I have my tervs to cover the ground troops. The zoans and doom should be close enough together (assuming they come in together) so that shouldnt be an issue either. I know the harpy risks being insta gibbed by S10, and the 4+ is really laughable, but that is 5 vector strikes a turn on top of all the blasts and pinning. I'm worried about the first turn mainly, add this is much more of an alpha strike list. I really need those flyers in the air asap. I might actually keep a flyrant and/or a couple harpies in rreserveto ensure they get their swoop.

I think I'll have to try this out, as my flgs meta is really SM and orc heavy. There are a couple tau guys too, and 1 daemon player... that is the one I worry about most. He is definitely tfg...
