As a long time lover of the 40K fluff I have only recently began my collection of models , and would very much like some feedback on an idea list that I've put together.
So I'm mostly putting this together with the models I own , and seeing as i bought a dark vengeance box set and a assault on black reach box set I didn't really have to much choice on who gets equipped with what so unless a models change in equipment is vital I'm not really looking for feedback on what each individual squad has a special weapons etc. With that being said if you feel it is relevant than I am more the happy to hear it smile.png I only really have one opponent at this point and he runs chaos space marines with 3 dreads , the cutilst from the dv set and a squad of tacs. Hopefully I will be moving to the city soon and should be able to find more opponents.

HQ:
Company master , combi plas and powersword
Librarian , bolt pistol force sword and a bike
Ravenwing command squad with banner of devastation
Elites:
Deathwing terminator squad x2 one with assault cannon
Dreadnought x2 both with melta power fist
Troops:
x2 tac squads one with flamer and ml other with plas cannon and plas rifle
Fast Attack:
one unit of ravenwing with a plas rifle and chainsword.

Now I don't actually have the librarian on a bike model ( fun modelling opportunity ) or the ravening command squad models yet however i was interested to see if the banner of devastation on bike could allow me to keep the bolter squads mobile and then quickly use the bikes to take the banner where a salvo would be most needed and the rest of the army moves as normal. I'm not building a static banner of devastation army that cant be flexible. Enough bolters for it to be worthwhile ? not even ? terrible idea ? Answers to these questions and any general thoughts would be great

The banner is vulnerable on bikes. There is a lot of ignore covershots and hell drakes. It's much safer on terminators, all bikes have beacons, and they can arrive turn 1.

Personally I would go with sam, bikes and scouts as troops. Between infiltrate and scout moves you are iincredibly mobile inpicking a spot to set up shop. Tac marines can't keep up or salvo turn 1.

The banner is going to get shot a lot. I would join a librarian interminator armor to the unit, add an apothecary, and after it deep strikes join Sam to the unit

Thanks for your reply. I was looking more for advice as to whether it would be worth buying the command squad to add to my existing force not completely change everything. That being said however the vulnerabilty of the bikes would definatly be something i would have to take into account
