So I've been egged on by my local store to try their 1750 tournament, and Im not on shift so why not. Unfortunately I started this year and only ever played against a few people and 3 armies, so I dont have high expectations.

However I refuse to use the standard two flyrant/3 tervigon/doom list because 1)I dont have all of them and 2) not so much fun.

I am thinking I can do

Standard 2 dakka Flyrant with Old Adversary

2 Hive Guard
3 Zoanthropes
8 Ymgarl (or 3 more zoanthropes )

11 termagants w/devourers
12 termagants w/devourers
Tervigon 2 psychic powers, regen

15 Gargoyles w/toxin and adrenal
15 Gargoyles w/toxin and adrenal

Trygon Prime w/regen and toxin

My thinking is I'm not going up against particularly competitive players. It's an objective tournament, and I am going up against armies I am unfamiliar with. I can only hope to glance flyers to death, my Flyrant will probably have to be played ultra safely, and Ymgarls could do great or
do nothing. I have 6 zoeys and I could drop 3 of them with psychic shriek down safely. Zoeys get punched in the face and keep going and can be run as anti vehicle. A line of 30 gargoyles backed up by 6 zoeys is hard to ignore, but Im sure any Tau/eldar player will just laugh at me.

Trygon can deep strike of foot slog. Hive guard can be hidden away and pop off those nice strength 8 no los shots.

I dont want to underestimate my opponents, but if they ARE casual, maybe even bringing along Swarmlord and guards as a distraction would be nice because he can buff and almost certainly get ironarm/endurance. Gargoyles with endurance are obnoxious.

Anyway, just thoughts. Ideas?

You could drop the regens and use the pts elsewhere. It's likely to only recover a wound or two from regen plus the terv may roll endurance on biomancy (fnp and a regen like effect) or iron arm which makes it very hard to kill unless you run into alot of poison.
