So I have a up coming tournament in 2 weeks and I really feel that my list just is not up to scratch. I think it needs more variety/punch but I just don't see a way of freeing up points to get any extras.

It is a wave serpent heavy list with minimal unit sizes. The Farseer will be used to guide and prescience both WL or WW, his third power is just a bonus. I would like to keep the WL as my local meta is fairly mech heavy and there has been a sudden rise of land raiders or av 14 equivalents.

Is four troop slots/Wave serpents to much at this level? I know how good they are and I really want to abuse the firepower they can put out. The War walkers will be my prime anti air unit, I feel they are capable of downing a flyer in each turn.

I'm completely satisfied with the list and would like some advice on what could possibly be done to make it better, if it at all needs to be made better. I will be putting it through its paces on sunday against a DE list that is pretty strong in my area, so I would also like to beat the player and keep a competitive TAC list at the same time.

The list, really needs something adding or swapping out. What does Dakka think?

Farseer - jetbike, mantle, Ro witnessing - 170

5 DA - 65
Wave serpent - TL-Scatter, holofields - 135
5 DA - 65
Wave serpent - TL-Scatter, holofields - 135
5 DA - 65
Wave serpent - TL-Scatter, holofields - 135
5 DA - 65
Wave serpent - TL-Scatter, holofields - 135

3 Warwalkers - 6x scatter lasers - 210
Wraithlord - 2x flamers, 2x Brightlance - 160
Wraithlord - 2x flamers, 2x Brightlance - 160

TOTAL = 1500 on the dot

It looks like a very strong list to be honest. I like it a lot. If you are desperate to squeeze more models in or make changes than there is one obvious way to do it for me.

If you drop all 4 holo fields (Can't believe I've just suggested that!) that gains you 60 Points. drop the runes on the farseer, as they really are terrible and not worth the points! That now gives you 75 points, conveniently the cost of a squad of shining spears, who are pretty good against most low AV units, freeing up the lords to engage AV 12 and above.

Either that or you could take a spiritseer with a unit to gain some more psychic powers and gain the spirit mark ability to help out those wraithlords when shooting.

Alternatively, if you want to keep the holo's, then still drop the runes - they really are terrible, and take ghost glaives on the lords for that added punch in combat!

Hope that helps, I cant really see other ways of squeezing points in. Of course if you dont want shining spears, jetbikes with a cannon are always great objective grabbers!

While 4 troops should be about right at this level, only 20 t3 4+ save guys is a little weak. If you are going first and they have any firepower left at the end, they might get shot off the objectives.

There are better ways to deal with av14 than wraithlords. If you're really worried about av14, few things pop it like fire dragons. I think I would drop a DA unit and Wraithlord and pick up 2 min units of jetbikes and dragons in a serpent. Gives you a 5th super mobile scoring unit and keeps the serpent count high while supplying very reliable can openers. Honestly though, I think the fire prism is superior to wraithlords for less points so even that swap makes sense to me.

I was considering dropping the runes but they have saved my arse more than once during playtesting. They have helped me get a power cast when I vitaly needed it.

My only concern is that when/if my serpents get popped, that I will not have enough punch to carry on and win the game. I feel like my list revolves around the serpents and doesn't have any support if they go down.

The one thing I did think about was dropping 1 squad of DA and a serpent and then using those points for a minimum squad of 6 hawks with sunrifle and maybe a vyper.

The other options I had thought about was to add 2 units of 5 warp spiders which would then leave me with 10 points.

Warp spiders are fantastic, arguably one of the best units in the dex. Your list does revolve around the serpents, so keep thos shields up and keep them alive! Without holos and the runes you could exchange a unit of DA for Wraithguard or fragons, though I think your still a little short points wise to fit those in. Fragons are a good tank popping unit! But put them in a serpent, and don't buy any upgrades! 5 man standard is the way forward if you go that route. Personally I prefer the spider option.

And is really wouldn't take a prism over a lord. Especially for AT. The prism has 1 shot and is only 1 strength higher. The Lord can fire twice, and I'd argue is much more survivable. 1 big weapon hit on a prism and it's dust. The same weapon hits a lord, and he has 2 wounds left...

Just a suggestion. You could drop the two lords for a stock knight and add some windriders with some points to spare. There's a couple of reasons why I suggest this but it's up you and the meta you play in.

I don't run wraithlords so I can't tell you the difference between them and a knight. I suggest running a knight as just like any other big target it draws a lot of firepower away from your serpents at least it does in my meta. Yes your losing some firepower options but I feel the knight makes up for lost firepower in speed.

With the extra points I suggest a squad of windriders for late game objective grabbing and/or farseer bodyguards.

I dont like the Wraith Knights, I would much prefer to have my opponent split his fire between two targets, ie the Lords. Where as a single WK can be focused on with relative ease and would probably get shot down in two turns of fire. Waste of point in my opinion.

Not only that but I do not own one, the price tag is out of my wallets range unfortunately.

Well, looks pretty solid. I'd integrate 3 more Warwalkers with scatterlasers by dropping one Wraithlord and the Farseer upgrades (mantle, rowit). Keep the Farseer in the backfield to support the Warwalkers (prescience, guide). With psychic shriek she could do some damage if needed.
