Hi there,

This is my first post on this forum but I have been enjoying a lot of the reading all of you have provided. I am a fairly new player to X-Wing and will have all kinds of questions etc...in the future.

I started this post to get an idea of the interest players may have in vinyl star field maps. A friend of mine has access to a large number of them in 3'X3' and 4'X4' sizes with various, photo shop created, star fields in high resolution. All I am looking for at the moment is a show of hands so to speak, to see if it might be worth while to make it happen. Worth the initial expence.

You're somewhat behind the curve I'm afraid, there are already numerous retailers offering these, and people have been using images of deep space printed onto vinyl by local print shops for some time too.

Alongside that, FFG have a multi tile system launching in the near future, with double sided tiles to allow for multiple configurations and more variety.

I'm not saying you wouldn't sell any, but if you want to make any real money at it, you'll need to think of something to offer that the others already don't.

I hate to say it, but if I could get vinyl mats for 25 bucks, I'd be sold. I know it's not possible as the garage companies doing this are selling for more than the GF9 mats, but a girl can dream.

The biggest issue I have with the mats available for sale is they are too busy. I just want a simple mat with stars, like the ones they had the at Kessel Run thing a few months back. I can't find those anywhere.

Thanks for the input. I am trying to determine how well sales might go and I'm not sure if it will be worth the initial investment. Time will tell.

I'd like a vinyl star map that'd be 6'x 4' for those BIG games that are inevitably coming.

3x6 is what you will need for big battles.

6'x4' sounds huge haha. Doing some movie battles frame by frame?

6x4 would a great size for a tourney or team tourney lay-out.

For individual an individual tournament:
Run a piece of red electrical tape down the middle to cut it into two 3x4 sections, and then 6" from the other ends to create a 3x3 playzone and a 6" card zone for each player.

For a team tournament:
Run the two pieces of red electrical tape 6" from the long side on both edges, creating a 3x6 playing area and a 6" card zone for each team.

+1. This is the main reason I suggested this size, to allow for big games, or dual playing areas.

Now if we start posting where to get these maps, the community can start spending money

Printing would be $25 for a 3x6 one-sided, vinyl banner. Bulk discount pricing starts at 5 units. I'm not sure what shipping would be.
Printing on a 3x3 one-sided, vinyl banner would start at $15. Ok for a personal game, but not terribly convenient for tourney/doubles action.

It seems that they don't have a 4x6 size :-(

Great find Anpu-adom.

I just ordered one, and shipping started around $8 for me.

If you do make these, Mythweaver, be sure to post a link! Some folks are going to want to be able to just buy one and not order/make a custom one, so there is still an opening for a product like this, imo
