Subject: Starting haqqislam - which box option to get?

Hi,
I am getting into infinity and want to go with haqqislam. I think I will go with a combined force rather than either sectorial option.
The store I am looking to order from has the basic starter box set for haqqislam but they also have a special 300 pt force they are selling with the following models:
This Infinity Haqqislam Starter Pack contains three (3) Haqqislam Ghulam with rifle and light shotgun, one (1) Hunzakut with rifle and light grenade launcher, one (1) Khawarij with rifle and light shotgun, one (1) Haqqislam Djanbazan with rifle and light shotgun Tuareg (Hacker), Hassassin Fiday (Boarding Shotgun), Saladin (Combi Rifle, Nanopulser) and Asawira (Spitfire).
Should I go with this or is the basic starer box better and add a few extra models to it? They are selling the special deal for around 50% more than the basic starter box.
I haven't played any games yet just seen a few people in my club playing it so not to familiar with the weapons and units.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The thing is, from the models you mention, it looks like they offer models from the now OOP Haqqislam starter, which had godawful Ghulam and Hunzakut models.
The Khawarij looks ok, but you will almost always just proxy him as something else. Djanbazan, FIday, Saladin, Asawira are all decent models that could find themselves in my lists. If you don't mid the dated scultps, do get the deal as it seems pretty cheap and would get you a decent starter force that you could expand on with whatever official Sectorial starter you fancy - i.e vanilla Haqqislam:

Qapu Khalqi:

or
Bahram:

P.S: Do check whether the Ghulams offered to you are the Ghulams from the first link I posted. If not, they are the older sculpt. If they indeed are the new sculpts, then it's a good deal and you should take it, even though getting Saladin to work might be problematic because you're a newbie.

Yeah, the first 6 models are what was in the old starter box. I wouldn't say they're really bad models, they're just not as good as the newer ones.

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions. |

Thanks for the advice. I have checked with the retailer and they say all their models are new stuff.
There is also a 250 starter set I have noticed with:
This Infinity Haqqislam 250 point Starter Pack contains three (3) Haqqislam Ghulam with rifle and light shotgun, one (1) Hunzakut with sniper rifle, one (1) Naffatun and one Janissaire, one (1) Haqqislam Djanbazan Tactical Group with heavy machine gun, one (1) Haqqislam Hafza with spitfire and one (1) Haqqislam Hassassin Ragik Hacker miniature.
I might go for this and add some a couple of other models.

The part I underlined? That's the new Haqqislam starter. The one you listed earlier is the old starter. If they are convinced they have the new starter but those are the contents, they are wrong. Just look at the Infinity website, you can view the contents of each pack. The new, current starter for Haqqislam is what I underlined above.

I have got some stuff now that I am putting together, the new starter box and a couple of other models.
Basically i have the stsrter box plus a fiday, djanbazan with hmg, ragik hacker, lasiq sniper and hafza.
I am just wondering for the generic haqqislam list are there any special restrictions on the troops i can choose from the two sectorial lists? I haven't found any restrictions in the army list or on the app. Just want to make sure i don't buy something i am unable to use.
Would also appreciate anything i should look at adding in the future to give me more options. I am considering the support set with the dr and engineer and possibly saladin to use with the hafza as luitenant.
Thanks again.

The most important thing when it comes to restrictions on units is the AVA which is in the profile and all the armybuilders.
So, a Ragik in the general list will have an AVA of 3, but in Bahram will have an AVA of 4, meaning you can field 3 Ragik in the general list and 3 Ragik models in the Bahram sectorial.
Lasiq are AVA 2 in general and AVA 4 in sectorial, and so on.
There are no models from the sectorial (bar mercenaries, don't worry about that yet) not usable in the general faction.
Saladin, for example, can only be fielded in the general list, and has AVA 0 for both Bahram and Qapu Khalqi, though - there are models that exist in the general Haqqislam but do not exist in the sectorials.

No. The 3 resources for Infinity are points, SWC (special weapon cost, 1 SWC per 50 points) and AVA (availability). Points and SWC are general list hardcaps, and AVA is a unit type hardcap.
As long as the list itself falls within the games limit (so a 300pt/6SWC game, don't go over either), and your troops themselves are within their AVA (depending on the type - vanilla or sectorial), you're good to go.
