So me and a mate are getting into warmachine.
He went menoth and i chose cryx...

So im buying the battlebox and to start as my 1st list... hows this... i know very little tbh...

How can I expand to 25pts?

Denny wants at least two arc nodes. You'll get them in the battle box. Then some Warwitch Sirens to fuel them. Then the Skarlock to cast spells for her. Then things to take advantage of her debuffs. So, 15 is tough. The Battle box is 14 points. You could just run that until you're familiar enough to make descisions about your army's composition. Add a Necrotech for the last point.

Yes, the starter box is 14pts.

If you want to run MCThralls the list I would recommend is this

Start 15

MCThralls (10) -5
Warwitch siren -2
Warwitch siren -2

Possible list idea for you to play with... You get tier 2 With that list. So it would give you a few advantages. Not sure how it would play though :-/

Thabks for the tips guys. It seems like im not using alot of the battlebox though, would you not use the other 2 jacks? Or atleast the heavy?

Instead of costing points to put a Warcaster in the army a warcaster actually gives you extra points. These can only be spent on Warjacks in their battlegroup though.

So yes the warjacks in the battlebox come to 19 points, 5 of those points are free due to Deneghra coming with 5 warjack points.

If you had Terminus as your warcaster in a 50pt battle you would actually have 54 points on the board as he comes with 4 free warjack points.

At 15pts? nope.

The Deathjack is an awesome piece but he costs far too much for this point level. Against a savvy player he'll be taken out too soon and then suddenly you've lost 12 points and can't continue the fight.

Cryx jacks are generally fragile and though the Deathjack is one of the most survivable and useful he isn't there for 15 point battles.

Ah fair enough. So at what points level would you add him in?

Possibly at 25 but at 35 you'll have enough on the table to deal with what killed the Deathjack.

Awesome sounds good. Is it worth upgrading that jack to a character jack? And if so... which one?

I'm not really sure about needing/wanting the necrotechs. You're much better of with necrosurgeons and stitch thralls (for recycling the Mcthralls).

Plus with the battlebox and nodes you end up with super fast jacks that die easily. Not the best option to try and repair with slow necrotechs.

For 15, something like:

Necrosurgeon and stitch thralls -2
Brute thrall - 1

25 is up to you:
it's an additional 10 points, so you could do:
- Slayer (since it's in the battlebox anyway) - 6
- 2 more brute thralls - 2
- Gorman di Wulfe (maybe Saxon Orrik, does pDenny have ghost walk?) - 2

Or if you like swarms of dead guys:
- 2nd unit of max thralls - 5
- 3 brute thralls (so 2 for each squad) - 3
- 2nd unit of necrosurgeon & stitch thrall - 2

I would really suggest not buying a swarm of Mechanithralls. They have their uses, but at 35+ points pDenny much prefers heavier hitters and your opponent can typically blow them off the map pretty quickly.
