Hello everyone! I have an escalation league coming up with some interesting rules. Everyone starts at 500 points and for every loss you add 20% more points (500 points to 600 etc.). Last to reach 1850 points wins.

Here's the list:

HQ:

Rune Priest
-BRB powers

Troops:

2x Grey Hunters (6-man squad)
-Plasma
-Razorback (extra fire support)

Heavy:

Long Fangs
-5x Heavy Bolters
- Flamer on Squad Leader

RP and LF will hang back and take out troops and take pop shots at transports. Grey Hunters will be either in or out the transports depending on what we play and terrain. Either way I'm going to try and take mid.

Any recommendations?

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

That is a LOT of heavy bolters. Av13/14 is going to absolutely wreck you. A single land raider crusader can table your entire army and there is not a thing you can do about it. Yeah, it is expensive and very unlikely to see one at this points level, but possible. Ap2 is not that critical when you have that much dakka. Maybe drop the plasma for more melta all around?

Do you think a Lone Wolf will better than the Long Fangs?

Lone wolves are good, but long fangs are better. If you want one, you can trim a GH from each squad, make plasma melta and drop the flamer from the fangs. Gives you enough points for a lone wolf in TDA. Nothing amazing, but solid. Could always drop a long fang for more toys, or just wait till you escalate to make your lone wolf a beast. PF/SS in TDA is all you really need.

Granted, a small board makes the lone wolf extra deadly, and having a forcibly expendable unit is handy, but long fangs are a core rock unit and have synergy with the priest. A lone wolf is an autonomous and cheap addition to increase killing power. Better for mid sized/larger games.

Thank you for the advice!

Been hearing a guy might fit a Riptide in the 500 point and someone will probably use a Wraithknight.

I would change the list, I don't rate razor backs, long fangs are ok, I would put some wolf guard in or a thunder wolf, that ll make people gak themselves..

You can get two units of Gh for 150 then you have 350 to spend on possibly a wolf priest and wolf guard with saga of the hunter.,
