This thread is about the titular game to be released in very early 2014 (September 27th).We don't have a thread about this so we'll start one.
If you have anything to contribute feel free to, and if you want to check out some stuff about the game I'll inevitably put up videos of all the trailers (there's quite a few, like 4?)
So in this game you take the role of returning protagonist Gabriel Belmont who has been betrayed by God at every corner of his life, and who has become the Sovereign of hate and darkness and through sheer hatred and a bit of well earned nihilism is content with his role or at least that's what he's telling himself.
The game takes place in the modern world where a major enemy from the last game is returning after a thousand years. The game takes place over a single night as Dracula(Gabriel) is heavily weakened from his centuries long sleep and he goes out to reclaim his powers for battle with this enemy, and hopefully to end his torment as well.
The first game rustled some jimmies because it wasn't the typical Castlevania format and was a pretty extreme reboot.
Some people hated the first game. These people are brain dead sycophants who are probably bad at sports, and from whom women shy away from. Jokes aside The first game was pretty glorious, a masterpiece even.
So of note there are some pretty significant gameplay changes. Light magic from the last game is replaced with void magic which is quick and fast, and shadow magic has been replaced with Chaos Magic which is very heavy and powerful. The last game they were simply augments to Gabriel Combat cross resulting in no change of swing speed.
There are also some very cool new super moves as in theory (my hopes and them stressing the dragon part of Dracula's name) the ability to turn into a giant shadowy dragon as seen in the first trailer, and (this one is concrete) the ability to turn Gabriel's right arm into a massive swirling dragon tornado. Hellz yeah.
Moving onto the trailers. There's some pretty intense stuff here, be warned.
Probably worth mentioning this game has some of the best orchestral music ever, and the voice acting is from super allstars like Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlyle. Yeah Gabrel's voice was so cool it could carry his character by itself.

I'll wait until it goes on sale. As much as I enjoyed the first, it's not something that compels me to buy it for a full $60 (well, $54 on Steam right now, but still).
Of course, that may be subject to change, depending on how hard Namco Bandai decides to stuff PC consumers with the Dark Souls 2 release date.
It's been getting consistent reviews: gameplay is good except for stealth; story is so-so. Sounds like the first one, IMO. I will be getting it and reviewing it here.
