Ok, what happens if I use slave levies & carapace doctrines?  (Carapace for the HQs, RR, Hvy weapons sqds for example)  Does the SL "may not use any other doctrines" trump the "all must take carapace rule"?

Steve, why are you even consideting the carapace doctrine?

Bodies and guns. Guard doesn't need armor.

Actually it looks like this unanswerable question is covered in the YMTC FAQ.

Carapace - just a thematic thing, if the SL squads are 4+ it would be nice if the HQs were too.  I'll probably never do it though.

Slave levies don't have a 4+ armor save. They have a 5+ armor save and a 4+ feel no pain save. They are taken sequentially, like ward saves in fantasy.

Although me and mauleed are seemingly at a challange (haha mauleed I'd actually like to play against you, you sound like one of the few players out there to be an interesting match) guard do not need armor. For every point you spend on an extra part of "armor" that is less guardsmen with less shots with less special and heavy wpns with less winability (made that one up). For any guard victory you need troops (unless you rush with sentinels or chimeras, even then you have like 90 guys Lost and Dammed or Tallarans it's all the same).

Foil, I know, I am just stating a point for future reference to anyone who looks and has any idea on guard, please refrain from attempting to insult me, I know you have time to look at all of my comments and think of something to get me on, I was just stating a fact, yes I should just start a new thread saying how guard and it's varients don't need armor, but I'm too lazy to do that, and since this topic was along the lines be it trader guard or guard, I just post it here.
