The Twilight Zone

Even for a casual game, Crowe is pretty bad. Granted, he can be used as a distraction as you rush up to something and hope to heroic sacrifice. That and cleansing flame make him not terrible against bugs, but tau will blast him off the table in no time. Purifiers as troops is really his best skill, but you want at least 2 squads to justify that cost. If you want to keep him go for it. Go in, cleansing flame hordes of bugs away, or heroic sacrifice against some big bug after endlessly tarpitting. Against tau I doub't you can even be killed in assault, but if you do heroic sac the riptide...

5 hammers in a terminator squad is major overkill...if you need something dead that bad force weapon it. 1-2 hammers do fine to stack damage. 1-2 halbreds, 1-2 swords. All of those are secondary to psycannons, which are absolutely amazing and your best source of anti tank/MC short of assault. GK are great in combat, but they are shooty backed by great melee, not the other way around. Also, psybolt ammo is great if you have a full squad of models, as you get the bang for your buck. It is hard to justify psybolt for anything else, as you would have been better off with more guns/bodies than a few S5 shots.

Consider a halbred on your strike squad sarge. Incinerators are fine, but if you have purifiers put em here and put psycannons on the GKSS. Purifiers love to get close and burn things, GKSS are more shooty defensive.

Purgatation squads are ok, but psilencers are terrible. Even against deamons, they just don't put out enough fire to matter. In an army where every tom dick and harry has a stormbolter, a psilincer is pretty meh. it is also strictly heavy where the psycannon can at least move and shoot some. Take all psycannons on these boys.

Your purifiers are hot for bear, which is cool. This should murder just about anything in CC with ease. As an elite choice, these would do fine. They really need a transport if you want to get close. Tell a tau player you have S6 ap4 flamers and how cleansing flame works and your purifiers are dying first. Even though they cant assault out of a rhino, it is cheap and scoring. Dropping crowe for your choice inquisitor gets you a rhino and a nice little support friend for your purifiers.

And for transports, the same holds true for GKSS, kinda for purgatation. Rhinos to shoot out of, razorbacks for small squads. Land raiders for assault units, obviously cost prohibitive. Terminators can deep strike and their armor usually holds well enough.

I really only put him in there coz I liked the model. I'll chuck him out and replace him with an inquisitor. I was thinking coteaz, is that a good choice?

So should I just remove the hammers and give the psybolt ammo? or chuck in some heavy weapons?

I really wasn't sure about the psilencer so I'll definitely put psycannons on them.

I'll put a rhino with the purifiers, maybe bump them up a bit in numbers, and look at halberds for strike squad sarge

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for that though, really helping me to finetune it!

Crowe is a nice model, and if you already own him he can be a justicar or something.

Coteaz is a GREAT choice, and probably one of the best named HQ's in the game. Even without henchmen, Coteaz is still beyond awesome and worth taking in most GK lists. There are some other budget inquisitor builds you can also look into.

Keep a couple hammers and only take psybolt for full squads. I would go for heavy weapons first(psycannons).

Try to fit as many bodies as you can in the rhino, even if you don't have a halbred on every purifier.

Drop crowe get coteaz and put him with a shooty unit. Don't take hammers on all your terrmies. Or just drop them all together and get a nice built dreadknight.

I'm much happier with this list thanks guys.
I still have a decent number of points left, and I'm a bit worried that the Tau will just shoot me up completely. I'm feeling more hopeful against Tyranids, I'll just camp at one end of the board and just shoot them till the cows come home. If they end up getting to me then my purifiers will do their burning and the other guys will more than hold their own in CC against what is left of the swarm.

So what are your suggestions everyone? I'm thinking about interceptors with their teleporters but not certain. Maybe something like this:

10 Interceptors, Daemon Hammer X 2, Halberd X 8 = 320pts
Apparently its a good idea to use the grand master and give this squad the scout ability.

I'm reasonably happy with this list. before I had about 21 models which meant not a lot of targets. Now theres a significant amount more bodies on the field. Also even if the henchmen groups get shot up nearly straightaway, I'm hoping that I get at least one psychic barrage out of each before they go down. Not too bad for 35 points in my opinion; that's not even 2 purifiers.

My only real worries are that the quads in rhino's will get shot up too quickly, leaving not many troops to finish the job. I'm hoping this wont happen with my Rhino's spamming the smoke grenades and the enemy having a few more bodies' to shoot at, but I still feel like the Tau will do some major damage before I reach them.

PS I plan to make my warrior acolytes out of Imperial guard troops Should be a bit of fun!
