I'm seriously considering a pirate fleet of Dark Eldar with Eldar Allies. Obviously the Eldar need to look different enough that you can tell which group is which, but I'd like to make them look as though they are still a natural part of the raider fleet. An immediate idea comes from one of the DE books, in which the Dark Eldar show up to save Iyanden because "they find Iyanden's angst-ridden forays into the world of necromancy extremely amusing." The idea of a Spirit seer converted into a "necromancer" with a retinue of dark-eldarized Wraithguard sounds pretty sweet.

Has anyone done / seen any interesting takes on twisting Eldar models to look more like their fallen kin?

Typically you just add spike, pikes, and disembarked stuff to make it dark eldary, even the runes are sharp edges emblems, where the Eldar have more a soft weave and flow look, if you want to make a pirate fleet, I would say keep the Eldar armor and make a jackel n' Hyde look half of the armor rounded soft curves "majestic" then the other half spikey, sharp edges flesh rendering Awesomeness, then paint the the Eldar side bel'tan white and green, and the dark Eldar side Astrebule Vect colors and blend and bend the two in the middle torso area, you could also take the helmet and give it a blown out effect and glue in a partial Eldar head. That or think this way the dark Eldar have harmonculus "flesh crafters" put yourself into his mind and it's your job to rehabilitate those poor Eldar saps.

Anyways just some ideas

A simple and cheap solutions is to give all of the guardians DEwarrior helmets. The DE kits come with tons of extra heads and would give a solid mixed look I think
