so i saw this over on ttgn and really love what this could turn out to be.

ive never really looked at indiegogo before and was wondering if its the same as kickstarter or if not then how it differs.
id really like to pick up some of this stuff but will try to knock it out of my head if its a 6+ month long wait like kickstarter stuff usually ends up being.

There are some differences, five seconds on google gave me this link: http://crowdfundingdojo.com/articles/kickstarter-vs-indiegogo-choosing-your-crowdfunding-platform

But the long wait shouldn't differ due to funding platform. That is usually because producing stuff is really hard, and it's harder if you have a very high initial demand.

The most important differences between KS and Indiegogo as far as backers go are as follows

Payment to Indiegogo is by paypal and comes out IMMEDIATLY,

KS is either via amazon payments (US) or direct credit card (UK) and comes out AFTER the campaign funds

Indiegogo's Fixed Funding works just like a KS, if a campaign funds it goes ahead, if not you get your cash back (automatically refunded to your paypal I believe)

but Flexable Funding means the campaign organiser gets to keep the cash and use it to push the project as far as it can go

(fine for an art project, a potential disaster for a project offering stuff like games/minis as you could end up with nothing or a huge wait)

companies from anywhere can set up indiegogo projects,

but KS projects are limited to the USA and UK (Australia and Canada have recently been or will be added/)
