Hello Dakka,

Thought i would finally register and post since I have a small event coming up this weekend and looking for criticisms on my list. It's gonna be a 600 point tourney but from what I understand each game is a 4 player free for all. Beyond that I don't know what I'll be facing or how it will work, but I'm assuming deployment of 4 players will leave me fairly close to my opponents. No objectives, all kill points.

My strategy idea is to build a concentrated fire base capable of taking out most anything on my end of the table.

Aegis Defence Line w/ Quad Gun - 100 points

HQ - Librarian - 65 points
Divination with primaris

Troop - Scout Squad - 70 points
5x snipers, camp cloaks

Troop - Scout Squad - 85 points
4x pistol/ccw, sergeant with power fist/shotgun

Heavy Support - Devastator Squad - 150 points
4x las cannons

Heavy Support - Devastator Squad - 130 points
4x plasma cannons

600 on the nose i think. Thoughts? My plan is basically to keep everyone except the melee scouts behind the aegis, drop the librarian on the gun and have him prescience whatever squad is in most dire need of it, and vaporize anything I can reach.

Hey there, I've got a similar points tournament coming up, where I'll be using DA. I just posted a thread. Mine is 500 though. Why'd you decide on Scouts vs Power armoured marines? Won't they have much better survivability beyond the Aegis?

My thought process on that was scouts would be able to get somewhere out on the field quicker to either tie up inbound assaulters further away and maybe draw some action away from my firebase. Also with a tac squad instead I wasn't sure what to do with the extra 15 points.

Ok, gotcha. I've not played in over a decade so forgive my ignorance. The scout rule gets them an extra 6" move before the game? Your force seems extremely shooty, if you engage a unit in CC with scouts then you can't shoot at that squad. Are the scouts somewhat sacrificial, hold up a squad while you concentrate fire on the rest of the opposing force, then pick off the unit that may or may not defeat your scouts?

Yeah that's basically the idea, with the power fist in there on the off chance they live through first round combat to drop a kill on something as a bonus.

I like your Aegis tactic but i dont own one.
Do you have a minute to look at my 500pt and give me some pointers?
