Howdy yall! coming back to 40k for the 1st time in damn near 15 years and the game has certainly changed. I've recently inherited a friend of mine's dark elder battle box and am combining it with my old dark eldar army to make a 1k pt list (which is what my local hobby shop typically plays, not competitive). Open to all critique/comments but I have most of the units already for this list (minus transports/ ravager) and am not looking to spend an arm and a leg on it. I know, funny hobby to get into not looking to spend an arm and a leg but what can I say? I don't make arms and legs. Any who, here it is!

1001 pts
HQ
-Archon w/ ghostplate armour, shadow field, djin blade, blast pistol, attached to Incubi riding venom

Elites
- Incubi - 3 incubi w/ Klaivex, onslaught, riding venom w/ splinter cannon, night shields

Troops
-Kabalite Warriors #1- 10 Kabalite warriors w/ dark lance, blaster, riding raider w/ night shield, flicker field, splinter racks

-Kabalite Warriors #2- 10 Kabalite warriors w/ dark lance, blaster, riding raider w/ night shield, flicker field, splinter racks

Fast Attack
-Reavers -2 reavers w/ arena champion, heat lance, cluster caltrops

Heavy Support
-Ravager w/ night shields, flicker field

I've borrowed a SW army from a friend and played a couple of games to get back in the swing of things. I'm looking at very armour heavy opponents, mostly space marines of some kind or another and I'd like to at least be able to hold my own. Any input is appreciated.

Maybe Wyches? Haywire grenades are dead killy vs tanks and the models are amazing, which is the most important part really

While they definitely look awesome and weather I field them or not I'm gonna have fun painting them, that's not enough for me to put them into an army list. I've been checking the forums and the only recommendation I see for wyches seems to be w/ haywire grenades for an anti-tank squads. Does this work best in squads of 5? 10? Are they good for anything else? Because I've got a lot of dark lances already that I think would do the trick, but I haven't even fielded them yet so again, any input appreciated.

First things first, I suggest taking out the costs for each individual wargear. It's against forum rules, just fyi

Onto the list: In my experience, you need more than a couple Reavers to deal the damage you want.

One thing you could do is drop the Reavers (though they are cool) and add in another Ravager. The small reaver squad won't live long, even in a 1k point game. Another Ravager will dole out the harshness, especially if equipped with Disintegrator cannons. 9 AP2 shots will make anything hurt, at least anything in a 1k point game.

First, don't list individual point costs, it is against forum rules.
Unit, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade X is fine. Unit X, upgrade X, upgrade X, total X is not.

Since your shop plays non competitive games, Ill entertain and suggest some semi competitive options for your list. Keep in mind overall a super competitive tournament list may outright destroy you.

Your archon is okay. Ghostplate is a nice backup, but I find that if the shadowfield goes, it is usually to an S6 instagib shot, or your under so many saves the armor wont matter. Djin blade is ok, but if it turns against you your screwed(and ghostplate won't save you). Usually you either want to go cheap and wounding with a venom blade, or kill everything with a huskblade(and soultrap). An agonizer is another decent choice. Drop the blast pistol, this squad should be about murdering elite troops. Do consider combat drugs to boost your archon, and if your lucky get a free pain token.

Drop the klaivex from the incubi squad unless you really want the challenge chump. If you really want the archon to stay out of challenges and send an AP2 weapon in, the klaivex is OK. Do drop onslaught, as this squad is going to murder anything it touches. Sounds good, but if you overkill and are out in the open, an opponent will gun you down(even with a pain token). The venom is great.

Kabbies work good in splinter rack raiders. Flickerfields are not needed most of the time unless your up against a lot of tau, FMC's or helldrakes. Drop the dark lances as the raider should be moving every turn, meaning the lance will snap fire. 10 kabbies with rifles is sufficent, blaster is ok for an emergency AT shot, but try to just stick to splinter weapons.

Reavers are good, but I would drop every upgrade except the heat lance OR caltrops. Champ is only needed for bigger squads, and one special upgrade per 3 is all you want. Generally you need the AT over the caltrops, but they can be very useful.

Ravagers are amazing, and I would try to get another one(dropping the upgrades I suggested will easily get you one). They are your dark lance workhorses, and you want about 1 darklight weapon for every 100 points. In your case, 10 weapons. However, you probably want these in places they will be effective. Ravagers are great platforms, but dark lances in raider kabbie squads are not(the dark lance on the raider is).

5 wytches with haywire grenades in a venom are great anti tank. The main thing you get here is the venom, and the haywire grenades if you need. They can be a desperate assault unit(I mean desperate) and some splinter pistol shots/a plasma grenade. Also, they score despite being really fragile.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Sorry about that I just copy & pasted from msw, didn't even think about it. Thanks for the input folks I think this will definitely help me conquer me some real space. No body really plays dark eldar at my local hobby shop so I haven't gotten a lot of advice on how to play de except hit hard and don't get hit. Much appreciated!
