Okay all so I wanted to start running a Coteaz list for my 1850 GK list. However, I was hoping I could get some feedback on what to run with them.

I have a bunch of other stuff in GK but I havent purchased any inquisitor henchman warband units so I dont want to waste money there. Some of my units that I currently have:

HQ: Coteaz, Crowe, Draigo

Troops: Termies, a vareity of GKs such as purifiers, GKSS, etc.

Heavy Support: NDK x2, Dreadnoughts x2,

Elite: 2x Venerable Dreadnought, Vindicare Assasin

Fast Attack: Stormraven Gunship

For my tanks I have a few razorbacks and Rhinos.

I dont have much experience with the GKs yet but been having a lot of fun with so far. Ive been running a Crowe list with purifiers but I would think a Coteaz list would work a lot better. Does anyone have any tips as far as good squads for the Warband to come in? Ill be doing more research in the meantime but figured it couldnt hurt to try to get some fresh info while im here. Thanks All!

I see you are a relatively new player so I'd like to point you to the Gk thread.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/460371.page
6th edition and gk changes/tactical thread.

You can post list and ask question in here on the basis of Gk and I believe that just by reading the post you will gain alot of insight
on making gk list, what works, and battle reports as how to play some list, that look similiar to how you want to go about playing.
If you want more direct questions, just continue to post here and I or hopefully someone else will answer them

as for what your post... It seems you definiely have a variety of GK stuff to choose from. so to help you on your quest of where you want to go

do want quality or quantity?
would you consider allies?
fliers or no fliers?
vehicle spam?
shunt army?
pali, termi, or strike squad based?

from there how do want to handle coming up against
heavy psycher armies
heavy flier armies
heavy ap2/3 armies
heavy str6+ armies
heavy MC armies
vehcile or biker spam armies?

finally
what units do I really want in my army?
can I get these units in the same list and still be competitive/ how competitive do I want to be?

If you can follow this and answer these questions you are well on your way to building a list

I don't usually like to point out "you want to run this, this, and this, when you have this guy."
People think differently and a large part of 40k is creativity. If you can come up with something that others haven't thought about
and it works by all means do it... so for that reason I'm not going to steer you in a direction as to what you should or shouldn't take.
Decide on how you want to play by the basis foundation of what you want to play... not by what others suggest you play.

Hope this helps

Hey Dezstiny thank you for the well thought out response and the link to that GK thread ill be sure to do some reading.

Ill get down to it and give you some more information.

Im not sure about quality/quantity, for now I am focused on how to win haha. Whatever works is what ill be aiming for and once I get enough pieces and wins under my belt I will do some experimenting on my own to find some fun lists to run.

I dont want to run allies, maybe later on but for now I would rather stick to a pure GK list. Its just more fun for me that way.

As far as fliers/vehicle spam/shunt etc. I am just looking what is very effective for now. In my local gaming group I am normally up against Eldar, Tau, Dark Angels, IG, Necrons, CSM, and Chaos Demons. Ive been playing mostly so far against the Tau and Dark Angels and I know they stack a lot of AP2. I guess this is why I have felt the purifiers havent done all that well.

I guess I was looking at a good starting point for what has worked for others so I can test it out for myself.

So far all that I know I want to run include Coteaz, and my 2x NDK I love those models. I think the regular Dreadnoughts are better points wise compared to the Venerable Dreads but since I am taking up 2x heavy support spots with my DKs, I tend to run 1 Venerable and 1 regular.

I am still up in the air about my vindicare assassin. So far in my games he has always blown up a tank right from the get go, but then immediately dies so it seems hes been getting his points worth. However, I have been getting lucky with my first turn rolls and been going first a lot haha.

It seems to me that the servitors with plasma would be very nice to run. The monkey seems cool but wondering if its worth the points. All tips on how people have set up their units with the henchmen to give me a good idea on where to go would be great thanks =].

Well taking your feedback as to what you want in your army it seems that you are set on
Coteaz and 2xNDK

Coteaz allows for a numerous amount of options such as that of buffing paladins with cheap psychic powers and preventing units from deep-striking close to them a nd utterly destroying them through his
"I'm Expecting You" rule. He also provides you with the ability to take henchmen for troops and when it comes to henchmen squads, the amount of combinations you can do are absolutely up in the air.

You could go from
razorback
psybolt ammunition
5 warrior acolytes to

chimera
heavy flamer
henchmen
plasma or melta guns

to

chimera
heavy flamer
death cult assassins
crusader
banisher

etc. So I really can't help you there. In the GK thread there are a number of builds where people have come up with many combinations... really the only way to find out what you like is to play out your ideas.

2x NDK platform is very nice and dependent on your play-style you may want them in back giving out shooting fire power or up close and personal with the 30" shunt teleporter pack

As far as the vindicare assassin goes.
what you stated pretty much is how it is with that guy. He blows up a tank and then usually dies from a krak missile to the face or just shooting in general but hey if you want that to be a part of the plan in your army by all means go for it.

Dreadnoughts are much better this edition as opposed to venerables as a result of the introduction to hull points so always go the standard dreadnought.

So your objective should be....
- what role you want your NDK's to take on
- what are you going to use for troops
- where do you want coteaz/ who do you want him with

And don't forget to take into address the questions that I stated in my original post
after that I can help give you out more with list building
