Was considering a Daemonbomb army, and I was wondering which does it best. Slannesh Daemonbomb would be Fast with Mtd Daemonettes, and the whole army has an ungodly amount of rending attacks. Khorne Bloodletters annihilate marines, period. I've seen a Tzeench daemonbomb the army was easily able to kill 20 eldar/turn- although it did not scare me as much.  Not sure what would be the saving grace of Nurgle daemonbomb, Nurgle always strikes me as underpowered.

I realize its not just about the daemons either, but how to get the daemons in. Bringing daemons in off of infiltrating havoks should work well for Slaanesh, as well as Bikers from any army. There is also the option of deepstriking terminators, an option I dislike as a whole.  Who has the best Daemon transport system, and why?

Is it worth using a greater daemon as a host in any of these armies, or should you be aiming for a high number of deamons instead?

Lastly, which deamon-heavy army is least gimicky? I'm all for an army with a strong focus in one aspect, but gimicks have a way of being defeated when someone does your trick better (for example, an all daemon slaanesh army has trouble against Stealers - although this could be compensated with the Havok units perhaps?). Can any of these armies survive if you opponent has a way to minimize your daemon advantage?

Slaanesh deamonbomb is predacated on using siren on your lord and some bikers
A list could have
two siren lts on bikes
two squads of bikes
2 deamonettes
1 deamonettes on steeds
1 predator/defiler
This list is consdered to be somewhat cheesy and is difficult but not impossible to defend against

Nurgle makes a lousy deamonbomb - really. Relying on infiltrating marines to summon your plaguebearers just isn't that good. I would much sooner play a standard deathguard army which can be scary using a deamonic theme
DP
3 units possessed in rhinos
2 bloodletters
2 havoc squads w/infiltrate
Once your dp and possessed hit your opponents lines it can be lights out. Possessed are very good in a Nurgle list and look quite deamonic - but not a deamonbomb. Your possessed do not disembark until turn three after they btank shock as many units a possible and then they just rip through everything in their path. Your havocs take down any heavy support. Nurgle has great toughness and are quite durable but rhinos are always risky.

Now I play a deamonbomb army - here it is

http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b162/pheelixkat/?sc=1

Its blood for the blood god and looks and plays thematic - bloodletters are arguably as good as deamonettes and khornate bikers rock. You gotta love fleshounds as well. This is an army that can use a greater deamon. The Bloodthirster really lives up to his name. I have several variations of this force

1 Kharne (in rhino)
1 Possessed (in rhino)
1 Berserkers (in rhino)
2 Bloodletters

1 lord on juggie
1 chosen on juggies
2 berserkers
2 bloodletters

and the list of the models you can see online at photobucket

1 Thrister
3 bloodletters
1 fleshounds
1 bikers
1 predator

This is the list I use the most and it either massacres my opponent or fails horribly - the dice gods rule this army.

Now as to gimmicky armies ... deamonbomb armies are not balanced. All of them are gimmicky but Khorne can be the least offensive I think ( considering that you should not play Nurgle that way at all ).

Demonettes are the most cost-effective and argueably the best h2h combat demon packs. 15 points is a freakin bargain for a demonette. The only other lesser demon I commonly use are furies. Again they are 15 points each and are very effective at h2h, just not as good against well armored opponents.

I use bikes to deliver my bomb. I think they are best for 2 reasons. First, they are fast, 24" move on turn 1. That means the bomb is almost guarranteed to go off on your opponents side of the board. Second, bikes are very resilient, they have T: 5(4) and they get a 3+ inv save when they turbo boost. That almost guarrantees that the bikes will survive til turn 2 to deliver the bomb.

You could consider an undivided daemonbomb, with perhaps Word Bearers. That way, you can take whichever daemons suit your fancy. Daemonettes and Bloodletters rampage through MEQ's, but might not do as well against orks/nids, while on the other hand Plaguebearers/Flamers do really well against those two and little against MEQ's (on the average). Furies are just good all around, good at creating stalling combats, and good at recovering from a bad scatter.

Hi Keldrin,

I think choosing a Daemonbomb army will bring you lots of pleasure (even a non Slaanesh one) and lots of wins. How? Well, the diversity of Chaos is plenty.

Personaly, I've been using a Word Bearers / Black Legion bomb to good effect - although I'm still busy perfecting it.

Currantly my list looks like this:

108 - Lord, Stature, Speed, 2CCW, Frag, MoCU, Pers Icon

125 - Lieut, Bike, Dark Blade, Melta, MoCU, Pers Icon

115 - 5 CSM, Las Plas, Inf, MoCU, Icon

110 - 5 CSM, Autoc Plas, Inf, MoCU, Icon

101 - 5 CSM, Hvy Bolter Flam, Inf, MoCU, Icon

208 - 8 Bloodletters

90 - 6 Daemonettes

90 - 6 Daemonettes

120 - 8 Furies

168 - 6 Mounted Daemonettes

115 - 3 Bikers, Plasma, MoCU, Icon

150 - Defiler

1500 points - 55 models, 10 scoring units

As you can see, I've used the best of all flavours. That's what makes Undivided worth considering. Now, were I to choose a Cult legion for my Daemonbomb I'd go with either Slaanesh or Khorne (although an armie based on Nurgles Rot does seem cool). An essential part of a Daemonbomb is a Bike-based Icon. Two are even better. Both Khorne and Slaanesh offer great mobility in Bikes, and, more importantly, have good, fast Daemons. The fact that the above list has 5 mobile elements is what wins the battles - when playing either Khorne or Slaanesh I'd definately incorporate two squads of either Mounted Daemonettes or Flesh Hounds.

The good thing about a Daemonbomb with mobility is that you can very easily threaten two of the enemies flanks - by Bikes and Infiltrators - then watch him choose a flank and summon all the Daemons on the other flank. This way you divide and conquer and you make the opponent lose a lot of initiative by reacting to your plans.

Other than was voiced earlier, I do like Infiltrating squads for summoning. Three is a perfect number of infiltrating Icons I think, place two on one flank and one far away on an other flank. All infiltrating squads I use are cheap enough to sacrifice, so let the enemy focus on distroying them while we focus on reinforcing the most understrength flank with Daemons. Bikes also help here, since they can easily shift the location of the battle with their Turbo Boost move.

Anyway, I just spat out some of my experiences. Do share yours about making your army. Let us know how your fare with it.

Cilithan out...

Undivided, Wordbearers and Black Legion in particular, are the best choices for demonbombs.
