So this is for a doubles tournament, I'm playing as the Space Marines, my bro is controlling the Tau.

Primary Detachment: Tau Empire
HQ- Cadre Fireblade = 60
Ethereal = 50

Troops- 12x Fire Warriors = 108
12x Fire Warriors = 108

Elites- Riptide with ion accelerator, plasma rifles, Stimulant Injector, Velocity Tracker = 240

Fast Attack- 6x Pathfinders with 3x Rail Rifles = 111

Fortification- Aegis Defence Line = 50

Allied Detachment: Space Marines
Chapter Tactics- Ultramarines
HQ- Captain with artificer armour, Shield Eternal, power axe = 175

Command Squad with Apothecary with power maul and bolt pistol, Veteran with 2x lightning claws, Veteran with power fist and bolt pistol, Veteran with storm shield and thunder hammer, Veteran with storm shield and chainsword, mounted in Drop Pod = 270

Troops- Tactical Squad with meltagun, multimelta and melta bombs, mounted in Drop Pod = 200

Fast Attack- Stormtalon Gunship with skyhammer missile launcher = 125

Total = 1497

The Stormtalon and Riptide are the primary AA units in the force, with the drop pod Astartes taking out any priority targets. The Command Squad and Captain deepstrike to crush opposing units in melee. The bulk of the Tau hide behind Aegis.

Ok man, don't want to sound harsh but there's a lot which needs fixing here. First off the tau. No point for both a fireblade and an ethreal. That's 2 kill points straight away. 1 for the fireblade as he's your warlord and 1 for the ethreal. Choose one or the other. Troops are fine. Riptide has an ion so should not be skyfiring as it sucks for aa. Switch velocity for ewo to save yourself 15 points. And switch plasma for smart missles so you can ripple fire for 10 ignore cover shots. Also rail rifles in pathfinders are a complete waste as they always get targeted first because of marker lights. You only have 3 marker lights in that squad now so instead of being really good at laying down tokens they are now bad at that and bad at ap3 as there isn't enough of each in the squad.

Marine wise, first thing you should always take an odd number if pods so you can maximise your first turn strike. Having 2 means only 1 can come down. Take 3 or 1. As for the commander and his command squad dropping in with melee weapons, that will just be horrible. They will get shot to bits everytime before they get a chance to charge and all those points will be wasted. Also taking a multi melta in a pod tac squad is a waste because on the turn it arrives it will have to snap shot. Take a combi on the sarge instead. Storm talon is fine.
