I have been recently been playing against a Hassassin bahram player that uses a fiday.
How do I deal with it?
Also how do assault pistols work in close combat?

If you know you're facing one, try deploying defensively and holding back a unit you know can deal with it to deploy reactively to it at the end of deployment, and get lucky on the discover rolls. There's not many hard counters I know of, but there shouldn't be. Impersonation is the Fidays trick, and otherwise it's just a light infantry that's good in close combat. The whole point of the unit if to put your opponent on the back foot and hope for a good alpha strike before being gunned down (Fidays are meant to specialise in public executions for their demorilising nature, and don't have the greatest life expectancy). Just hope your opponent doesn't learn the Fiday bomb trick, using Saladin, a Fiday and Hussein Al-Djabel.

Had an opponent try to deploy his fiday in my DZ a few days ago. He failed his Wip roll to do so.
He had first turn, and the return fire from the two LI that were watching my DZ ganked him (crits). Shame that it was going to put him in LoL in his next turn.
I've had my backline mauled by other players with fiday, though. I tend to have heavy flamers and link teams watching the back line now as a result. They are also good to stop that one-trick pony VanZant as well.

Always good to have a link with Sixth Sense looking at the Fiday in case he wants to shoot.

I believe Infinity wiki has extended information on how assault pistol work.
I haven't played against the impersonators, always wandered how auxilia and two minelayers would do.

To use a pistol/AP in cc is no different to using a knife or other ccw in cc. It is reduced to B1, so you roll 1 die.
You STILL roll to-hit with your CC skill.
The difference is the DAM. Whereas a knife (which is NOT a ccw) rolls PH-2 for Dam, a pistol or Assault pistol uses ITS DAM number.
So, a Fusilier (armed with a knife and pistol ) is in cc.
He uses his pistol instead of his knife in CC.
He's now doing Dam 11 instead of dam 8.
