Hi, My friends would like to make a 1500 points Iron Hands army based on this set

So i mad him this list :

Master of the forge + Primarch's Wrath

Ok well the weapons in your sternguard and tacs are all over the place. No need for Flamers or heavy flamer as your special ammo ignores cover anyway. Also drop the heavy bolter as it will be snap firing the turn it drops. Just take combi melta/plasma on your vets and combat squad them when they arrive to maximise effectiveness. As for your tacs, take a combi weapon of the same type as your special for that extra punch. What load out does the venerable have? Also power fists are a waste in your tac squads as the sarge will be killed in any challenges before he gets to use it.

Exactky what above says, and:
You need 3 pods, the sterns and dread must come together.
Instead of venerable, make him ironclad.
Try to squeeze in more models instead of occasionally useful upgrades

So no close combat weapon for the tac squads ?
I love the flamers and the heavy bolter for my sternguards :-(
The dread come stock. Dread fist with stormbolter and multi melta. He will not be Ironclad since it's a venerable one in the pack.

Why 3 pods ? Master of the forge + 9 Vet = 10 --> 1 pod, and then another for the dread.

You should always take a odd number of pods. Because it is half rounding up that can come down first turn. So if you have 3 you can drop 2 down. If you have 2 you can only drop 1 first turn which limits your alpha strike and means your enemy can easily deal with your split up units. You can take a pod for a squad and still deploy them normally. Just send the pod down empty for blocking line of sight/obstructing assault moved etc
