As the Subject says, long time lurker, first time poster. A friend suggested Dakka a few years back and I have looked in from time to time. This is my first time on a forum, so feel free to let me know if I have broken any rules.

I am a proffesional Model/Mold Maker at an Industrial Design firm and the tools and techniques translate well to table top gaming. I also have a side business where I
mold and cast resin replicas of ordnance (grenades and mortars, etc.) and rubber bayonets for reenacters and airsofters. I have also began casting a few of the 28mm pieces that I make, so we can
have more items to fit in between the buildings on the table.

I have been a very casual player of 40k, Necromunda and FoW for quite some time. I started with 40k back in the mid 90's. I primarily
enjoy painting, converting and terrain building, though I am warming to this edition of 40k. I enjoy a well painted army, but can't stand to see it run on a stale, generic or open table. As a result, I have probably made more terrain than I have gathered a cohesive army. I have a partially completed/converted Rogue Trader Era Guard army, which is in the middle of a multi-week game at the moment. Plus I dabble in Chaos Marines. Our gaming group tends to focus on Urban terrain and the tables are usually very full of large buildings which make for an interesting game.

Thanks for the welcome, I hope to bring something to the Dakka community. Perhaps a thread on making large buildings...

The city has been a long time in the making. I will post a few new, better pics after gaming this week. Our gaming group in in the process of making modular, stackable, housing units that will work as apartments in either 40k or Necromunda.

Until I get some better pics, here is another project that started out as a "how-to" in an old White Dwarf, perhaps from the late 80's, or early 90's, I do not recall. It has been modified several times and has been used as a platform for many heavy weapons teams over the years.

Lovechunks, I will work on starting a large building thread (after X-Mas). I bet the guys in the gaming group would like a new multi-story building to start the new year. The basic items I use are pieces of 1/2" blue or pink Styrofoam, sharp #11 blades, Popsicle sticks (or bass/balsa wood) and crap loads of hot glue sticks.

Quick question, would it be correct to place such a thread in the "Painting and Modeling Tutorials" section? Seems logical to me, but it never hurts to ask...

Until I start a large building, here are some shots of my latest project, the beginnings of a ruined 2 story residential home. I plan to make enough to create connected row houses, if I like the results, molds will be made, so we can have low residential buildings in between the taller structures.
