Hey all, going to be playing a friendly game against my room mate sometime this week. He's apparently bringing a C: SM army to the table, and
I thought I'd give my Daemons a try for once.
HQ
Kairos Fateweaver
GUO : ML3, 2x greater rewards, 1x lesser reward
Troops
Pink Horrors x10 ( Iridescent Horror )
Pink Horrors x10 ( Iridescent Horror )
Plaguebearers x10 ( Plagueridden )
Plaguebearers x10 ( Plagueridden )
Heavy Support
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch : WFA, Wings, Exalted Reward, Greater Reward x1, ML3
Daemon Prince of Nurgle : WFA, Wings, Greater Reward x2/ lesser Reward x1, ML3
Soul Grinder : MoN, Phlegm Bombardment
Think I stand a chance? Roomie tends to bring Fortifications like Fortress of Redemption.

There's no way that Codex Astartes wins vs this list. In fact it's not even really the friendliest list. Granted it's not crazy competitive, but it's definitely not casual either. Your daemon princes will single handedly win you the game. DS the GUO in his backfield and he's in for a world of hurt.

Thanks.
Hoping that he doesn't go with his nasty WAAC list ( sooo much las/missle/plasma spam )
Gunna roll all biomancy on the GUO and pray for Iron arm goodness and make sure I keep Kairos either airborne or hidden so his Warlord trait and staff can play havoc with my warp storm rolls. Really wish I could squeeze another 50 points in somehow to fit in a ADL for the horrors to hide behind, but we play with a lot of terrain, so hopefully I can play hide and seek with him until he's pulling his hair out in frustration. From what I understand, Plaguebearers in a ruin can be a little annoying/fun ( depending on whether or not you're the one playing them )

Plaguebearers in area terrain can go to ground for 2+ cover save. They're fine at holding objectives but do NOTHING. They lose to everything in combat, and obviously don't shoot.
Make sure you remember to vector strike will all your monsters and fateweaver knows ALL of the tzeentch powers. A lot of people don't remember that.
DS the GUO in the backfield and he'll have an awesome time.
Also, if he brings heavy Las cannon spam then I would make both princes nurgle. When flying they have a 3+ jink save.

Thanks for the great advice!
I will admit I forgot about Fatey having all the Tzeentch powers.
Could a 10 man squad of plaguebearers do anything against an unoccupied Land Raider? I recall their swords have a gauss-like ability.
and If I made the second daemon prince nurgle instead of Tzeentch, that would free up 10 points, if I removed the iridescent horrors or the plagueridden, would A Blasted standard on a squad of Horrors be any help?

Honestly, I would run the two squads of plague bearers and then a giant blob of daemonettes.
Here's my beef with horrors: First you need to survive a leadership test to manifest the psyker power (granted it's on LD 10) then you have to make it through a deny the witch roll, THEN you have to roll to hit with horrible BS, THEN you need to roll to wound, then he usually gets some sort of saving throw. They just are incredibly circumstantial. Daemonettes are fast being daemons of slaanesh and you know what you're getting with them.
Also, don't forget the baleswords on the nurgle princes. It's a bargain at 10 pts for an instant death poison weapon.
Plaguebearers won't make it to the land raider, they're slow and can't run. Honestly they're best just sitting on homefield objectives. Look at it this way with them, they won't get shot off of objectives so you get the luxury of paying 90 pts for 3 VP in a game, which if you ask me is a bargain.
If you really need to deal with the land raider smash attack it with your Daemon Princes.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything he said. While cool in theory, I've never had a spectacular performance from Horrors. Daemonettes on the other hand? ....whew, they demolish everything. Hordes? Dead. MEQ? Dead. TEQ? Dead. MC/vehicle? Dead. I even had a 7 strong squad of Daemonettes rend a Space Wolves Land Raider into oblivion in ONE TURN.
I run a very similar monster mash list, but I tend to give my GUO the Grimoire, as he never dies, and he's really too slow to count on him getting in combat.
Oh, and don't forget, Fateweaver still gets his warlord trait and Staff of Tomorrow rerolls if he's in reserves/ongoing reserves...so if he's out of Grimoire range, let him swoop off the table.

Baleswords can be taken from greater rewards, so 20 pts there.

Thank you all for the great tidbits of advice. I admit that I know little about Daemons, save what I've gleaned from scouring the codex and what I've researched online. My other armies are a Nurgle biker/ PM list, and my original army is necrons, so psykers are a little confusing to me.
I'll try the daemonettes in my next list, since I currently don't own any. ( Xmas money will be going bye-bye fast. lol )
I was also thinking of adding in Flesh Hounds of Khorne to tie up some problem units early on, but a quick question. Do people have any problems with players proxying in WoC puppies for them? I just don't like the actual hounds for a few reasons, mainly the price and the fact that atm they're finecast, where as the WoC ones are inexpensive, plastic, and you get 10 instead of 5.

Many people use the WOC hounds as fleshhounds. They meet all of the qualifications for a counts as that I can think of. Anyone who gives you grief is a douche-a-saurus and I'd question whether I'd want to even play with them!

Try these also.
Bit more (ok, way more) expensive then WoC hounds, but they look bloody awesome. That's what the flesh hounds in my imagination have always looked like.
