I'm planning for a Warmachine/Hordes double caster list...

I have pThags and his tier 4 list...of all others out there, what tin can army/caster goes with him?

Pot
Ogrun war spears(5) x3
Any combo Scythean/rav/carnie
Ogrun boss to
Ogrun warcleavers
Up to 4 stingers and munchers
Archangel if need be

...thoughts...I've got agro, some range, relatively hard to kill troops

What caster/units will complement this?

I assume you simply mean a second list for tournaments. You can't have a multi-caster theme list.

Anyway, for a second list I'd check out Absolonia's tier. its pretty brutal.

Not in official play...but we are going to do a hordeswm double caster tourney in the spring

You still can't have theme lists if there is more than one caster. Its the theme list rules.

Which means it will clearly affect both Thags

Right now the way you've laid things such that it is really unclear what you mean. Typically pairings are two separate lists, each from the same game & faction. In order to answer your question we'll need the following points of clarification:


* Are these separate lists for example you have a "pThagrosh" list and a "Other Caster" list and each game you choose one to bring or is it a "pThagrosh + Other Caster" in the same list?
* In the case it's separate lists, what restrictions (does it have to be Warmachine, can it Warmachine or Hordes, does it have to be a certain factino(s)?
* In the case it's the same list, what restrictions are there? If it's the same list with casters from different/games factions does everything work as printed or are there rules to allow faction buffs or "Target Warbeast" type effects across systems?

I think this thread broke Dakka.

If you are indeed doing a 100pt two caster game you should get something to cover Thag's weaknesses. Something with more infantry support would be a good start since Thag is primarily a beast caster.

from the look of your wording, your asking about a 2 warcaster list, not 2 lists.

So 100 points then.

one of the lyliths maybe? She's fairly good with infantry I think.

It's rules as written...

Must be one WM and one Hordes caster

Total 100 points, so I could literally go 100 points in one group and a caster by itself, but balance is key for obvious reasons...not specific on the particulars beyond that.

Both on the table at the same time for the same game.

I think 3 rounds...maybe 4.

I think they are doing first, second, third and theme team prize for the best fluff back story/ paint modelling job

Mine are modelled with snow...so khador might fit, but really they all could?

Obviously I am Ogrun/beast heavy...I can use 2 ravs and a carnie for range if I want...or go 2 scythes and a carnie

Yeah you won't be able able to play tier in this format. Unless they're doing special rules, you're not allowed it two caster games. Even without the whacky out of faction considerations.

That said for pThags in general Cygnar & pHaley seem like a natural fit. Temporal Barrier, Arcane Shield, Death Shroud and Tenacity/Spiny Growth will really compound to make dealing with your army a tough proposition to deal with. Nobody but nobody wants to be seeing Deadeye on legion's ranged pieces. Between Scather Templates and Covering Fire you'll deny a lot of the board to single wounders. Your feats don't really sync up but that's tough to find for pThags anyway.
