Really trying to find my old army. They were not official canon Silver Skulls but would be very close. Silver skulls with the inside of their shoulder pads painted green with white skull transfers on them. They were all of the old style 2nd edition boxed set plastic marines (the ones all in the straight pose holding their bolters sideways to their chest). The sergeants were all armed with bolters and had the old style banners on their backpacks.

Something like 6 tactical squads each with missile launcher and plasma gun (all old style 2nd edition marine models) with bolter carrying sergeants with green back banners.
Possibly two devastator squads with 2 lascannons a piece, also with banner sergeants
and old model landraider with two green pennants on it
A terminator squad, old style, not the space hulk plastics but the first run of metal termies they did back in rogue trader possibly?

Once again, all painted somewhat like silver skulls (mithril silver was the color I used dry brushed over a black base) with green bolter casings and green shoulder pad interior. This was a very shooty army with all heavy tac squads, devs, etc... that would just sit back and shoot. Some highlighting was done as well. Overall a slick looking army on the table top and very retro looking.

If you've seen this army, played against it, perhaps you are the person that owns it. Please contact me as I really would love a chance at getting it back. Thanks!

Honestly, they probably ended up in the paint stripper and chopped up for parts. I wouldn't get too hopeful about getting them back in recognizable condition.

Also if the person is playing it why are they going to want to sell it back.

This is why you should almost never sell your army.

You relly will probably be better off trying to aquire all the same models and repaint.

I'd try and locate the buyer and email them to see if they still have it.

If it was an online transaction and they paid for it by paypal you can probably look it up even if it was some time ago.

Yeah the problem is I sold it through a third party and the person that sold them for me says they have no records left of the sale...

Alas I'll have to let go at some point but not ready yet lol

Thanks for the responses.

Chances are you wont find the army unfortunately. If I were to buy some minis, the first thing I'd do is strip the paint unless they were top notch to begin with.

I am afraid I have to agree with everyone else, the chances of find your old army are slim. However, thanks to eBay and sites like DakkaDakka and Bartertown you could begin a reconstruction project to bring this army back into existence. It might be fun to collect all those old models and start fresh.

Best of luck in your search!

See, maybe I'm just naive cos Im something of a noob, but I would disagree with everyone! Surely if you have a really splendid looking army, nobody goes and paints over it do they!?

I would be amazed! If an army is pristine, it seems like a crime against humanity to strip the fether, I would rather put it in my attic and paint over some new ones or some primed black space marines I got off ebay!

Do people really do such dastardly deeds!?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

You are assuming the first paintjob is splendid. Even if it's pretty good, I would eventually strip and repaint it to my own scheme. If my scheme and their scheme are the same, I'm still going to strip if their painting techniques don't look the same as mine do.

I suppose it makes sense if the paintjob is awful, I presumed it would have been nice if someone took the time to search for it though...

OP describes some basic painting techniques and "some highlighting". That doesn't sound like a golden demon level paint job, so I'd only buy it because I want the models for something else and toss everything straight into the paint stripper.

hey i found an old gk army that i had traded and it was traded on barter town a little over a year or so ago.....so there is always a little hope....but older models like that woulda hit the bath for sure or ended up as terrain or kibble .at least they would be super cheap to get again.

I wouldn't be trying to find it if the paint job was bad. This was an army I took to tourneys up and down California. It won a couple best paint awards, had great comp, and was good for a minimum of 2 wins out of 3 games in most cases. It sold for a decent dollar amount strictly because of the paint job.

Someone in the United States bought it is about all I can narrow it down to. Totally regret selling it but I lived in a 150 sq ft studio with my ex gf at the time and was broke as hell. Thanks for the responses guys!

I sold a 3000 + point Black templar army about 8 years ago to a regular at the GW store I worked at. I had all the intentions of redoing the army when the new stuff came out, and GW even hooked me up with most of what I needed. The kid disappeared about 6 months later and I've never seen him or the army in the area again.

I don't regret selling it...I bought an airbrush and compressor with the money, but I would like to see the models used. I usually got top paint scores with the army, but yeah, probably stripped down and reused.

As for all the Templar stuff I got....most of it went into my Imperial Fist army and the rest went into a small silver armored templar army.

You will probably never see it again. Trying to rebuild it is your best option.

Yeah see that was my point, I can never envisage a circumstance when somebody would paint over or strip an army like that, so you might get lucky.

Best of luck anyway!

Most likely you'll never see them again. A local guy had an awesome unit of Komandoes he sold on ebay and then later people noticed bits of it ended up in an ebay auction that just had random bits in it. It was quite disheartening because they were really awesome models, but someone broke them apart for some reason.

Hell yes I would.

1. I hate playing an army I didn't paint. I'd rather play unpainted than have to field a paintjob I couldn't claim.
2. I wouldn't want to try to reproduce somebody else's scheme when I inevitably had to swap wargear.
