Hi Guys,
I am fairly new to playing 40k and have only played a few games, in which all that one I have lost. Because of this I thought I should make a completely new list to try and win some games. I have no intention of playing competativly and would like to just get more of a chance against my friends. I normally face Imperial Guard, Necrons, or Eldar. All of them run alot of tanks and the Guard and Necron Player run about three fliers each, and the Imperial Guard guy has a large blob of infantry alswell.
I will probably just run the Ultramarines chapter tactics as my models are already painted that way but I could choose a different one and I am pretty sure my friends wouldn't mind. So here is my list so far.

It is 1850 points.

HQ:
Chapter Master (210): Terminator armour, thunder Hammer, Combi Melta

Elites:
Sternguard (305): 10 men, 2 combi-flamers, 2 combi-meltas, drop pod
Terminator Assault Squad (225): 5 men, storm sheilds and thunder hammers

Troops:
Scout Squad (100): 5 men, land speeder storm
Tactical Squad (190): Heavy bolter, flamer, drop pod
Tactical Squad (190): Heavy bolter, flamer, drop pod
Tactical Squad (205): Lascannon, meltagun, rhino

Fast:
Stormtalon Gunship (125): Skyhammer missile launcher
Stormtalon Gunship (125): Skyhammer missile launcher

Heavy Support:
Stalker (75):
Thunderfire Cannon (100):

Total: 1850

Thanks in advance for any assistance and all C&C is welcome.

Looks like a solid start. Some thoughts I have:
- I like my hq in a pod. You going to drop yours with the terminators?
- The terminators will die without a LR or Raven, they seem like wasted points.
- I think it's a little AP light.

What I would do:
- Drop the terms.
- Pick up another stern squad (5-7) with a couple PG.
- Put them in a pod with the CM

Also keep these in mind, they changed how I play my marines:
- consider a hq that unlocks the command squad. They make a much cheaper alpha strike than sternguard.
- 5 man assault squad with 2 flamers in a drop pod = 95 points

So maybe something more like this:

HQ:
Captain (105): Power weapon
Command Squad (250): 5 men, apothecary, banner, champion, 2 plasma guns, drop pod

Elites:
Sternguard (305): 10 men, 2 combi-flamers, 2 combi-meltas, drop pod

Troops:
Scout Squad (100): 5 men, land speeder storm
Tactical Squad (180): Flamer, drop pod
Tactical Squad (180): Flamer, drop pod
Tactical Squad (205): Lascannon, meltagun, rhino

Fast:
Stormtalon Gunship (125): Skyhammer missile launcher
Stormtalon Gunship (125): Skyhammer missile launcher
Assault Squad (95): Drop pod, 2 flamers

Heavy Support:
Stalker (75):
Thunderfire Cannon (100):

I like that a lot better. Of course it comes down to your play style. One last thought I had was to play with the terminator squad a few times too to see if to like them.
