So in a recent trade transaction i've acquired a sizable chunk of Khador, and quite frankly im not sure where to go from here, or even whats the best way to go about utilizing what i have! So i was hoping you guys might be able to help me out here with some pearls of wisdom about the motherland. What i have are,

10 Winter guard

You have a solid start, all of those casters work well with all of those units. You are missing two things: Kovnik Josef Grigorovich, and a warjack. Beast 09 is a fantastic warjack and he works really well with pretty much everyone but especially sorscha. Any warjack in our lineup will work so just pick one that fits your tastes. Kovnik joe buffs winterguard infantry units with some fantastic bonuses, he is a must have for any winterguard centered list and hes only 2 points.

well thats a hell of a trade. You would probably be best served by looking at some hard hitting melee units, perhaps some with good armor values to round out the obnoxiously high DEF of the winterguard. Iron fang pikemen, greatbears of gallowswood, Man-O-War, fit the bill nicely. Some solo support models such as the new Iron Fang kovnik, or some merc support like Gorman di wolfe or aiyanna and holt. Some powerhouse solos like the Drakhun or Fenris would be good options as well but I think the strong melee unit would be your next best option - that is depending on how many points you are looking at playing.

Not too sure about points level i want to play at, but i think it might be nice to have some extra options open.

As a melee unit, would the Demo Corps be worth while?

They are a solid unit, but they are slow and they are medium base. Also - Unlike shocktroopers, their ARM value is not that high so if they get targeted, they will get taken down fairly easily, BUT, they put out some serious damage, you just need to get them there. pSorscha will help get them there as her feat can lockdown entire armies for a turn. pButcher buffs his units to hit harder so they probably would not be very good to run with him since they already hit so hard.

If you are going to run the butcher, look for higher model count, models with multiple attacks etc. Manhunters, Yuri the axe, greatbears. In fact, I would take greatbears before a unit of demo corps. They have higher damage output and are more versatile: faster, better threat range, better damage, higher MAT, and they are small base so you can screen them with your winterguard.

Honestly, there is not much reason to get the demo corps over the greatbears unless you need the max unit for some reason. At 5 points, the bears have better spd, better MAT, better DEF, equal ARM, pathfinder on charge, better damage output, and are small based, and the bears cost 1 less point for same model count as a min unit of demo. The only advantage the demo corps have is 3 more hit boxes and the ability to add a damage die to their pow14 weapon, but the bears are pow 12 weapon masters with 2 attacks, so that extra die is moot.

Doomreavers work well with butcher as well. They are fast, good MAT, good all around stats, they hit almost as hard as the demo corps, and they have berserk so they can really wipe out alot of models. You just have to protect them from ranged attackers. I think they would run well with sorscha because she can boost their DEF with fog of war. They have spell ward so they cannot be targeted by spells, but her fog of war doesnt target them.

You have a solid starter force, my first add on would be a max unit of Iron Fangs with Officer and Standard Bearer, this would shore up your Winter Guard and also draw some attacks off of them. Because Winter Guards greatest asset is IMHO is one massive blunderbuss fire on a target.

I would steer away from anything MOW for beginners. Looking at your list I would get Behemoth and a Spriggan and call it a day jack wise. Khador is a mixed arms troop faction. My standard 3 list drop for khador runs 1 jack per list and that is Big B in one list and a Spriggan in the other 2. I would look at the following for good support in any army:

Wardog
Widowmakers
Kell Bailoch
Epic Eiryss
Aiyana and Holt
Wishnailer

The mercs shore up some hard matchups for Khador (Upkeeps and Magical Attacks mainly) While Wishy helps with the lower focus curve of our casters.
