Yes, some of each of the loyalist made it off planet in various ways.

However, the Iron Hands was also one of the smaller forces in the assault since Ferrus Manus jumped the gun with his elite troops rather than wait for the rest of his legion so their overall casualties as legion were lighter than the Raven Guard and Salamanders since there were less present.

Wait. Ferrus didn't jump the gun. All three forces were fully engaged and then he pressed an advantage that wasn't there. Those left behind went back to the drop site, to be massacred. His losses should be right in line with the other two legions.

Most of the Iron Hands Legion was left behind to repair their fleet after the ambush by the Emperor's Children when Fulgrim attempted to lure Ferrus to the side of Horus. Ferrus loaded up with his Morlocks (vets) and raced off to get some payback. The Iron Hands Legion did not field nearly the same numbers as the Salamanders and Raven Guard at Istvaan V. Most of those engaged were destroyed, but there was at least one ship of Iron Hands that survived, their story was in one of the latest HH books. Name escapes me at the moment. Had a few Salamanders onboard as well as a Raven Guard captain that killed Lucius of the EC's.

The Eisenstein only escaped with loyalist Death Guard under Garro.

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

Ferrus chose the fastest of the Legion's ships, and together with his most veteran troops, sped towards Istvaan V ahead of the rest of the Legion. As they had feared, the majority of the fleet arrived too late to take part in the attack, and it was with dread and horror that they learnt of the disastrous treachery that had greeted their Primarch's attack. He and the Veterans joined with six other Legions in the planetary assault. Ferrus spearheaded the attack with two other Legions, suffering horrendous casualties as they dropped into the planet's atmosphere. The four Legions that were backing up the initial attack turned on the unprotected flank of the loyalists in an unforeseen betrayal, sealing the doom of the Legions, who were massacred in the ensuing battle.

Backed up by what happens in Fulgrim as dracpanzer mentions.

Hey if you are interested in the tenth legion’s ordeal at the drop site massacre, then the Veritas Ferrum shot story might be something for you. It’s a good little story and you can get it for a fairly reasonable price on BL.

So dare I ask what happens if he farts? Could it blow the seals on the lower portion of his armor? Or is a space marine's system immune to such mundane fluctuations of bodily conduct?

No one should be complaining about this codex. It gave regular Eldar a much needed buff by allowing us to drop Fire Dragons and D-Scythe Wraithguard wherever we want, without scatter. Without this, I almost lost a game once. It was scary. I almost took to buying fixed dice to ensure it never happened again.

Towards the end at the Massacre site the loyalists were piling into any vehicle that could fly and ships were filled with guys from every loyal legion in a mad desperate escape. I imagine they didn't split back into their separate legions until they made it back to Terra.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

A very small number escaped Istvaan along with the survivors of the Raven Guard and the Salamander survivors, but most of the 10th legion was not deployed at all on Istvaan.
Ferrus only took his elite units with him. So most of the tenth legion survived the massacre by simply not being there.
It's elite troops that were deployed on Istvaan were however almost completely wiped out. Not to mention that Ferrus himself was killed.
Quite a large number of the Raven Guard managed to escape and the Salamanders were almost entirely wiped out as well.
