I used to buy a lot from Maelstrom games, but I haven't purchased in a long time and I see they closed.

So where is the cheapest place to buy in bulk either GW, PP or any other games system now a days?

BY in bulk I mean like spending $1,000 or more to get good high percentage discounts off of retail.

Cheapest would obviously be taobao, but with that amount you should contact smaller independents and ask for a good deal. It's a fairly substantial purchase, and I'm sure a lot of them would be willing to negotiate with you.

Isn't taoboa all chinese knockoffs? I'm not looking to buy knockofffs.

Yes, which is why my post continued after that.

A lot of shops will have a flat 10-20% off RRP, but if you contact them about making a larger purchase, they might be willing to give you a better offer.

I thought it was simply normal Chinese stock, sold at the usual modified-for-Chinese-market-prices, with the issue that you need to be able to read Chinese to be able to actually use it...

Discount Games Store via eBay or direct has very good prices in the US. They also ship internationally if your flag isn't accurate.

I've considered using Amazon for purchases recently, a lot of stuff is half what we pay in Aus. Though I've never been sure of if they would ship to Australia. If they would, I'd order straight away.

The shipping usually makes up for that price cut, if they ship at all (which isn't very common on Amazon). Most of the shipping is done on a once-off basis, so it varies massively. You could get lucky though, and you're right it is sometimes a MASSIVE price difference.

How exactly would one find this out? Email Amazon directly and organise a purchase? Order and see if they will send?

I investigated each of the sellers, checking out their info and such. I just use eBay these days, relatively hassle-free.

If you are dropping a Grand on toys. Hit up the LGS and see if you can get a VOLUME discount (20%ish). If they are cool, they will deal at theat money level.

Some are, some aren't. As a rule of thumb, if its cheap, its a recast, or possibly a factory reject if they only have a few for sale. You can order through them using any of the various taobao agents which will handle your transaction, such as yoybuy.

For Privateer Press stuff in the US you can't get a much better deal. They may be able to offer something slightly better for $1000+ orders but don't count on it when they already offer 30% off.

Would spending $1000 be a one off, or would you be regularly spending high amounts?

If you wanted GW stuff cheap and were spending that sort of money why not just set up a trade account with them directly?

If you didn't want to do that Dark Sphere will normally give 25% discount on orders over £100 but might possibly offer slightly higher if you were spending $1000.

That's for GW stuff, I'm afraid I wouldn't know about PP stuff.

surprisingly, I'm going to have to say Total Wargamer. all the PP product I purchased for then have seen great service. Not for GW though, since the trade terms I've found that it's much better to just buy from offline shops.

Wayland Games are ok for less common brands.

I thought GW only set up accounts with brick and mortor? or Extremely high volume.

I'm looking to start a paint commission service, Until I actually get enough comissions I'll have to put a lot of stuff on Ebay.

GW will still set up trade accounts - you just get a (much?) lower discount if your store doesn't meet this, this and this requirements (the requirements generally being stuff that brick and mortar stores have but internet stores don't). At least that's how it is IIRC.

Try Miniature Market maybe? They have a 20% off, 1% cashback, Free (super fast) shipping past a $99 order. And I can't imagine any retailer would be unwilling to knock a few extra % off your order if you're going to be ordering $1,000+ regularly. It can't hurt to ask!
