So I'm trying to build a 2k dualwing DA list, with these models as a starting point:

Belial
5x Deathwing Knights
6x Ravenwing Attack Squad
1x Attack Bike
1x Landspeeder

I'm leaning towards a termie heavy list, since I already have Belial, so a few termie squads are an obvious choice. But what to go with them? I was thinking a Black Knights squadron and Darkshroud would go well with getting onto the opponents side quickly for no scatter deepstrike for the units Belial isn't in. Also, I kind of like the idea of the Deathwing Knights in a LRC. Pick the scariest thing on the board, and ram a LRC full of knights up its arse would be entertaining .

Appreciate any thoughts from more experienced DA players.

First question which will help us guide you towards your more important goal, a little bit like a personality test:

Which would you rather? A close-fought win earned because you employed the most efficient choices from your codex, or a clear loss earned because you fought with the units you wanted to play with?

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Obviously the win would be preferable. I'm not dedicated to using all of the units I have on hand, but if they fit into a fun viable list then all the better.

It's not obvious at all. Some people prefer to play their army with units that aren't "competitive" because they allow them to play a style they find more enjoyable, regardless of outcome.

I digress, if you have chosen competitive, you have chosen the wrong codex. DA is the second worst book overall by win % on Torrent of Fire. Not of 6th edition, of ALL. But, there are a few builds that can be tricky to play against, especially if you open your mind to allies. The following is an example of a list Forge the Narrative contributor Kenny Boucher took to Feast of Blades this year; he didn't win of course but he caused matchup problems (just about what you can hope for as a DA player):

Dark Angels- 1345

HQ: Librarian (1#, 120 pts)
1 Librarian: Auspex + Power Field Generator + Space Marine Bike

Troops: Scout Squad (5#, 70 pts)
4 Scout SquadCamo Cloaks, 1 Sgt

Troops: Tactical Squad (10#, 140 pts)

Heavy Support: Land Raider Crusader (1#, 270 pts)
1 Land Raider Crusader, 270 pts = (base cost 250 + Dozer Blade + Multi-melta + Storm Bolter

Heavy Support: Land Raider Crusader (1#, 270 pts)
1 Land Raider Crusader, 270 pts = (base cost 250 + Dozer Blade + Multi-melta + Storm Bolter

Heavy Support: Land Raider Crusader (1#, 270 pts)
1 Land Raider Crusader, 270 pts = (base cost 250 + Dozer Blade + Multi-melta + Storm Bolter

: Command Squad (5#, 205 pts)
5 Command Squad + Meltagun x4
1 Standard of Devastation

I do not agree with you Shrike, in an very high competitive tournament, yes DA aren't so good, but if you don't face the so called "auto-win" lists (flying circus, o'vesa star) every game you play, then with the right list DA can do pretty well.
Yes we have some useless units, yes we have some overcosted units, but with right choice we are almost as competitive as vanilla marines. Few examples, white scar grav bike spam list? few rifleman dreads, maybe one or two devs, with a librarian or two with PFG, behind a ADL and say bye bye to the bikes (personal experience). Next, you deploy the centurions? no problem, you'll face 10 plasma shots at T4 (black knights) and say bye bye to centurions.
Plus, in the "nightmare" lists i've not included the serpent spam list as i found it pretty easy to counter, also i've won a match against it the past week (was a tournament game against the current tournament leader)
Last but not least, the list you posted, while it could be fun to see your opponent face when he sees three LR, but that list is for sure an auto lose...
DA aren't so popular because you need a bit of tactics with them, as they have no no-brainer unit to take, so you'll never see a kid you just started playing with DA. I think they are one of the few really enjoyable armies, as you need to think about every move, every choice you do (few months ago i was thinking to start Tau, but then i saw how no-brainer tau had become and i've quitted that idea)

Now, to the OP, sorry if i went a bit off topic xD

Anyway, let's talk. The knights inside an LRC is nearly a must (at lest i nearly always field them) and also the black knights are simply awsome. Usually, 6 of them are more then enought, more is usually over-kill.
You said you liked the idea of termi heavy list, well i like it, but that isn't really a good idea, one or two, maybe even three, squads are ok, more usually no, as you'll find yourself with a really low model count.
Darkshroud is a...i don't know. i like it but usually i field it only in bike heavy lists.
Also don't forget greenwing. They aren't really fluffy i know, but they are usefull.
From a competitive view, i COULD say yes to allies, to a fluff point of view, NO WAY! we are the first legion!
A single land speeder is going down like a rhino would, so better if you pack two or three typhoons and lay waste from distance.

I like to create lists even if i'm not going to play them xD so if you want, feel free to ask for it, will try to sort out something
