so this is my latest attempt at a all comers list for my local gaming club. I finally broke down and purchased more Cultists on eBay. So point in any better directions for this build if needed.

Chaos Lord, MoN, L.Claw, P.Fist, Sigil, Blight Grenades, Bike- 170

7 Plague Marines, 2 Plasma, Meltabombs, Rhino- 238
7 Plague Marines, 2 Plasma, Meltabombs, Rhino- 238
7 Plague Marines, 2 Meltas, Meltabombs, Rhino- 228
16 Cultists, 15 Autoguns- 89
10 Cultists, Flamer- 55
10 Cultists, Flamer- 55

5 Spawn, MoN
Heldrake, Baleflamer

3 Oblits, MoN, VotLW- 237
Forgefiend- 175

TOTAL- 1835
15 points left for a Gift of Mutation, and something else...

Lord and Spawn move out with the Rhinos towards the enemy. Cultists hide in reserves and grab an endfield objective. Oblits and Forgefiend are the main range and shooting. Heldrake does its thing.

The extra cultists are there just for points filler. I could get the Burning Brand of Skalathrax, Champion wargear. An extra Spawn and split it into two units of 3. Or more cultists... Im also considering splitting the oblits into 1 solo, two together, and deepstriking the solo.

Any comments would be great.

I like it. Well balanced and solid strategy behind it.

A couple of thoughts:

The cultists work well in large blobs. With all the troops at your disposal, you may consider joining the 2x10 squads into a single squad of 20. Less flexible for placement and movement, but less likely to break at the first sign of casualties. Use them to hold an objective, and the flamers can be good on over-watch should someone deep-strike and charge your unit.

The other unit of 16 can hide out in cover where they can provide some modest range shooting to midfield with the autoguns.

You still end up with 5 scoring units, which is pretty good even at 1850 points.

You might consider dozer blades on the rhinos so they can ignore terrain and tear across the board. That would use up your 15 points, I think.

I haven't used Forgefiends myself, although I've picked up 95% of a model on the cheap, so will be giving it a try once I find the bits I need to complete it. Seems very expensive @ 175 points. I have been running a tri-las predator, which clocks in at 140 points, and has done very well taking on armor and MC units @ range. I know the fiend can dish out a lot of shots, but at lower Str/Ap and only 36" range and BS3. You've got decent anti-vehicle/MC with the plasma/melta plague marines, so maybe not an issue. I just like (3) Str9 Ap1 shots with one twin-linked and all at BS4. With a cultist blob, you could bubble-wrap your fiend to keep assault units off him for an extra turn or two.

Good luck with this list. I think you'll have fun playing it.

thanks for the reply!

i'll consider a Predator maybe for my next purchase!

Combining the Cultists might work out, since I pay champion tax on them anyway, so it would only be cheaper to do so.

The forgefiend has been in list hiatus for a while, ive re-configured the list to re-include it because I only have the Oblits as anti-anything. He does scare fliers pretty good.
