Hey Everyone,

Convert from the 40k ranks here. I was messing around with warroom and decided to start with cyngar as my first army. I came up with a few (theoretically) balanced lists and would really appreciate any feedback concerning performance or which army would be a better starter army to build off of.

List 1

Stryker
Ironclad
Lancer
Black 13th
Long Gunners (6)
Stormblade Infantry
Stormblade Officer and Standard

My 2nd list is more of a ranged punch

Stryker
Ironclad
Lancer
Black 13th
Long Gunners (10)
Sword Knights (6) Flanking alongside the ironclad of course

Looking pretty good to me.

With Stryker rowdy is a much better choice than an ironclad.

Which list do either of you think would provide a better starting point for building an army?

Imo the second one. With a max unit of Longgunners you buy a staple unit that works with most casters & sword knights are cheap throw-away bodys.
The first one focuses on Stormblades and they are a bit controversial. They hit hard but they die fast too, a beginner will waste them often (been there, done that).

List one looks better, but I would consider dropping the Long Gunners. from the list. though, not to say they are bad but they can have some horrible match-ups like stealth and things that can be only hurt by Magical Attacks and the fact a min unit IMO is meh. So, for their points you could get yourself the Squire (extended control range, re-roll for spells and extra focus), Rhupert Carvalo, (dishes out Pathfinder or Tough which really help the Stormblades) and upgrade the Ironclad to Ol' Rowdy (focus efficient Jack due to his Aggressive special rule and the fact he is Strykers Jack)

So your list would look like this

pStryker +6
Ol' Rowdy 9
Lancer 6
Squire 2
Black 13th 4
Stormblades & UA 8
Rhupert 2

Personally I would like to see a Journeyman Warcaster in the there for the ability to have two Arcane Shields in the list, but that would mean dropping the Lancer to fit him in.

If you want to use Stormblades here is a useful tactica article from the PP Website http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?162707-Madjack%92s-Stormblade-Tactica&highlight=stormblade+infantry+tactica
