Dark Angels Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries




Just bought a battle force to expand my army. The list I am looking at running now it:

-Azrael (proxy w/ company master)
-Librarian
-(troop) Deathwing Terminator Squad
-x1 Sergeant
-x4 Term (powerfist, x1 assault cannon)
-(troop) Deathwing Terminator Squad
-x1 Sergeant
-x4 Term (powerfist, x1 assault cannon)
-(troop) Deathwing Terminator Squad
-x1 Sergeant
-x4 Term (powerfist, x1 assault cannon)
-(troop) RW attack squad
-x1 sergeant
-x6 Bikes (x2 plasma)
-x1 land speeder (multi-melta, Typhoon missle)
-(troop) RW attack squad
-x1 sergeant
-x5 Bikes (x2 plasma)
-x1 attack bike (multi-melta)
-(Fast attack) RW attack squad could proxy them for black knights
-x1 sergeant
-x2 bikes (x1 plasma)
-(heavy support) Dev squad
-x1 sergeant
-x4 marines (x4 plasma cannons)
-(fast attack) Darkshroud

Total points: 1849

I am planning on sticking my lib and Azrael with the dev squad. I would like some thoughts on this list as I am still very new to this game. What would you change?

Also, on a side note. When it comes to bike squads with a land speeder do I need a total of 6 bikes INCLUDING the sergeant or not including the sergeant? When I combat squad them can I remove my attack bike and land speeder from the squad to so they are on their own? Thanks for the help.

You need 5 bikes plus the sergeant. So that's 6 in total including the sergeant. And yes, when you combat squad them they separate off.

I'm pretty sure you can't choose to take an attack squad as fast attack with azrael in the list. I'm sure they count as troops no matter what. But for what it's worth I think black knights are awesome. Their plasma talons are incredible and as skilled riders their jink save is never worse than 4+ so they survive that bit longer!! Add the scouts rule to that and they can out flank too!!

the bad thing about azrael is that he's neither here nor there. can't deepstrike or move 12 inches. In a perfect world he should have been 50 points more with the option to take a special bike or a special termy suit. But ah well, i digress

its a great list, definitely take the black knights the plasma then the rending cc will wipe a squad every turn if you keep em alive.

the only inefficient thing about this list is azrael. keeping 215 points of HQ in the backfield just to confer a 4++ is redundant as the powerfield generator in the librarian can do it for 30 points.

What i advise is to NOT squad him, then attach him to a termy squad in turn 2. otherwise he does literally nothing. but it all depend on who you play. in an army such as eldar who can board jump turn one you may want him to protect the devs, but from experience, terminator heavy armies just cant beat eldar anyway!!!

this is all considered assuming you did not want an upheaval of your list, but on the chance you don't care, and want azrael in it, you could put him with vets in a dakka shooty land raider with a command squad and the banner of devastation and bike squad escorts. a wall of boltgun salvo death pushing forward with deepstriking termies in the backfield will poop on anyones day
