As I sit here tonight with a glass of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum + Diet Pepsi in hand, I can't help but think if there are others out there who enjoy Rum and would like to discuss the ones they've tried.

So here goes.

Sailor Jerry: 92 Proof, Spiced Rum
Being 92 proof, I was thinking that it might have quite the "bite". But honestly, it is pretty smooth, especially when mixed with a cola of some kind (i.e. "rum and coke").
Also being 92 proof, it sneaks up on you after just a few, so you need to be a bit careful when consuming...unless you have the goal of getting completely blitzed
It has a good bit of a caramel taste, and I agree with someone that said it reminds them of Dr. Pepper.

The Kraken: 100 proof, Black Spiced Rum
Again, another very high proof rum, Kraken (in my opinion) has a bit of a harsh bite that detracts from the taste. It mixes well, with the cola (or whatever you use) taming the harshness of the high proof.
Not quite as caramel tasting as Sailor Jerry, the higher proof, for me, overpowers some of the taste. It actually used to be my rum of choice, until I tried Sailor Jerry on a whim.

Captain Morgan Tattoo: 70 Proof, Spiced rum
Opening the bottle, you can smell the spice coming out. Pretty heavy on the spice and cherry. At a far lower proof than the others I've tried, its definitely not got that "afterburn" as some call it. Mixed with a cola, you almost get a "cherry coke" type of flavor. A solid, middle-of-the-road rum that will fit the need just fine. Different than traditional Captain Morgan, if you want to deviate from that.

Captain Morgan Original: 70 Proof, Spiced rum
What hasn't already been said about "The Captain"? It's the best selling spiced rum in the world. Just a really smooth, caramel/vanilla flavor that goes so well in so many things. You really can't go wrong with this.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

My favorite is captain morgs private stock. Mixes extremely well with cola and lime.

Runner up is Castillo silver ;p. strictly based on price.

Edit:I personally prefer tequila or bourbon to rum but if I'm drinking rum those are my choices.

Outflanking

Bacardi Gold: (80-proof) Probably my favorite All-rounder. 80-proof, flavour is mild enough to mix well with even fairly delicate ingredients, but strong enough to add flavour to stronger mixes or even be drunk straight.

Captain Morgans Black Spiced Rum: (94.6 proof). I shall be honest, I only bought this stuff because it was on sale. However, I have not regretted my decision. Also, the bottle is corked, adding a nice piratical feel to consumption. As a dark spiced rum it encounters difficulties when mixing, as one must strongly consider its flavour when creating a drink. It is, however, an excellent choice for drinking straight.

Captain Morgans White Rum: (80 proof). A decent mixing rum, I am less than exited about it, due to the fact that it really is only good when mixed, and carries little into the drink other than alcohol content.

Why is the rum Gone (Alternates)?

-Toga Night
-Friday Evening, Saturday Evening, Sunday Evening, Monday Morning coffee...
-I don't remember

Edit:

When Mixing Rum, I actually find that A&W Root Beer is an extremely good mix. I would quite recommend this drink (I call it the R&R) to anyone. Who is looking for a smoother taste than a rum and coke.

Probably work

I don't drink rum much anymore, but when I do, it's generally Kraken on the rocks. That's some impressive stuff. I never really liked Sailor Jerry much, but that's just me.
