So, I got an Xbone for xmas. And Assassins Creed 4. Hella fun so far. I was off all week and never left the house, too busy sailing the high seas and listening to my crew sing me songs about booze and women.

Anyway... I had a PS3 before, so I'm kinda new to xbox.

I signed up for a gold membership for a year so I can watch TV on my xbox.. but I really don't see the point, when all I have to do is hit a button on my receiver's remote to switch to my cable box. I was going to set up skype on it, but I don't want people to see how messy my place is and how many pizza boxes I have stacked up at any given moment. Netflix works ok. I set up Internet Explorer, checked out my website on it, then said "meh" and never back, I'd rather use my tablet. I set up Kinnect to recognize me and turn on the box whenever I'm in the room, but whenever I say "Xbox On" or "Xbox Watch TV" or "Xbox Self Destruct", nothing happens. Do I have to wear my xbox live headset for it to hear me? If so, that's dumb.

So... I can't play any 360 games on it, can I? Looking at their online shop for games, there's only a few that I can download. The guy at GameStop tried to sell me a $3 warranty for my assassin's creed disc, which I declined. Aren't the discs just for installing now, and you don't need it in the machine to play anymore? He was practically begging me to get any kind of warranty. I was like "STFU noob and gimmie my Xbone"

And, if someone is playing a 360 game, and I have an Xbone version, can we both play together on Xbox live? Or is each version separate? My nephew has black flag also, but for the 360...

the "Xbox On" is really finicky, try recalibrating kinect (That worked for me). Also you can't play 360 games on it unless you re-buy them on xbox arcade. the xbox has 500 gbs but 25% of it is taken up by the OS and the rest for games, you can install around 7 games before it's full so you will always need the cd incase it has to be re-installed.

I don't think they are cross platform for online play.

You don't HAVE to have a gold membership to watch tv on your xbox, only to use the One Guide.

Oh... yeah I don't use the guide, I'd rather just use my cable remote like always, it works better than the one guide anyway. I think I'll probably just switch it back to plugging my cable box into my HT receiver like always. I had the Xbox 1 TV get screwed up once, and was just showing a blank screen, but I could still switch over to play games and stuff. had to unplug my xbox and plug it back in to get it to work again.

and I think the 500gb is kind of dumb especially with how cheap storage is nowadays. It should have been 1TB at least. But instead of making an easy change they decided to announce an external drive to make more money.

The batteries in the controller also don't last so long, you really need the recharger if you're gonna play a lot. I was off most of the week and played AC4 pretty much nonstop and had to swap out the batteries once so far. I'm just gonna get the recharger pack to make it easier.

I think I would have also preferred to have a cheaper version without the Kinnect stuff too.

But that's all minor stuff, still loving it so far. I probably would have gone with PS4 since I had a PS3, but it was sold out everywhere and I had an xmas bonus burning a hole in my pocket. Probably going to have to check out Titanfall when it comes out.
