Im looking to make my own chapter, and I need some inspiration. So please post any of your own creations.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

I should also add that my army focus on droppodding, and lots of dreads. I have considered urban camo, with black/white/greys. Does that sound like it could work ?
keep the comments flowing.

mine are based on the Constructicons. linkbasically they contributed the paint scheme neon yellow-green with light grey and dark purple accents. I plan on using the Decepticon logo as the chapter logo on each shoulder pad. Hopefully I'll have some painted by the end of the month.

Do not use the CLEAR dice!
Dear Whiny Space Marine Players, you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.
suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman! |

With lots of pods and dreads, I'd go with a TechMarine based theme. Maybe give everyone gear symbols. Paint each one up half red and half something else.

1st draft: urban camoed, with techmarine-red shoulderpads and helmets. Does that sound like it could mix ? I'd love to do some TechStyle on this army, maybe really hyping up all my venerable dreads. So far its only in the idea-gathering stages, with 1 dreaddroppod under construction.
gimme more comments...

Im using the as-many-dreads-as-you-like and extra-specialweapons, only problem is that techmarines cant use pods. My planned army has 3 tactical squads with 2 of each special weapon, 1 scout squad, 5 dreads and a librarian command squad. All in pods.

I like the whole techmarine idea and I think that you should actually make the entire force in Techmarine colours. All red gore and lots of boltgun metal.

You should look at the Iron Hands chapter (miniatures-wise and look-wise), as they might have the feel that you are going for. I think their tac squads are really cool. But I wouldn't go with their color scheme though. If you want to go for something totally original, well... ask somebody more creative than I.

Well, as I no longer have anywhere near as much disposable income... I'll share what WAS going to be my DIY chapter. The Techmarine Training Corp. of Mars (that almost sounds like a B movie title ) take 2 techmarines as HQ, 3 more as elites. Have the 2 leader techmarines be "Master Techmarines" (teachers), have the elites be "Techmarines" (seniors) Paint Scheme: Straight up techmarine colors for the characters... with your choice of army specific left shoulder pads (though they are in the training corp, they are still only on loan from their parent chapters) Vet sarges for the squads (if you have any) are novice techmarines (juniors/sophmores), and don't have the honor of wearing true techmarine colors. So paint them in some combination of techmarine colors and the "school colors" (training corps colors). Wide variety of chapter symbols, of course Regular marines, are just that... regular. Techmarine Trainees (freshmen). They just wear the school colors (and chapter symbols) Heck, if you really felt froggy, you could even model the dreadnoughts as "class projects" for novice techmarines graduating to full techmarine status. By this, I mean they make/cobble some steampunk looking vehicle/armor/exoskeleton/whatever that can represent a dreadnought. There. That was my idea and theme. Take it or leave it. If you take it, the torch is passed... if not, well I guess I MIGHT get around to building it... someday.

Here's my Marine Chapter Regal Blue as the main color. White as the secondary (White takes a lot of extra time to get right) Black w/gray highlights for the weapon. Fourth company (green trim shoulder pads) of the Quesar Marines. The chapter symbol is a four pointed star. This model is part of the captain's retinue, and has an addition chapter symbol, white inside a blue circle (partially shown in the picture) He also has his squad # displayed. My advice is to pick two colors that go together, and decide how they should be painted on. Add anything else later, and make sure it matches your original colors.

As Im going all pods, I cant have any REAL Techmarines. Im going to try and make an urban camoscheme on all but the helm and shoulderpads wich will be dark red. To slightly tie in with the Ad-Mech Im going to use a modified version of their symbol as my chapter symbol. I l'll probably use the cog shape as a background, and I have some Iron Hands bitz leftovers.

Drop pods huh?......... How about the Fluttering Butterflies! Pink/Lavendar/Baby blue urban camo would be cool....... Camo huh?......Brown = Camo......Brown Eyes of the Emperor! Their symbol could be an asterix inside a circle. Use red or blue huh......Red Snappers! Their symbol could be a vertical fish...... Sorry.....just musing..... Oddly enough the Iron Kodiaks (no bear sybols of any kind, they're named after a mon named Kodiak) are silver with blue and red trim. Squad symdols are denoted by the way their right sholder pad insignia is painted. I chose silver because I was new at painting 10 years ago and I took to drybrushing metals real easy. Blue and red stood out on the silver quite a bit. I'll try to post a pic here later. If I started a new chapter I'd stick with the muted single color scheme like the Raptors (Camo green) or Revilers (grey).

I like the sound of the urban camo with dark red...Is this what you were thinking? Obviously the bone colour would be camo Perhaps a black version (look kinda like Flesh Tearers): And my own personal chapter (looks much better in person):

Here. Just open it with "Windows Paint" or similar program, use the eyedropper tool to select colors from the paint pots, and then paint away.

http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/painting/sm_painter/default.htmTo post output from the Interactive Painter: 1. Use the painter to get the scheme that you want. 2. Press Ctrl - Print Screen on your keyboard (I've been told that on some computers this is Alt - Print Screen but, I've never personally seen this). This will perform a capture of the whole screen to your computer's clipboard. 3. Open Paint or any other graphics program and paste the clipboard into a new document . Edit out anything that you don't want to keep. Save the results. 4. Upload the new file.

I have an army of all camo marines. They are alot of fun. Mostly because they were painted by someone who knew how. It also gets lots of comments on things like "I didn't know marines knew what camo was"

This is a really nice hint of what they might look like. I had thought to make the entire shoulderpad red, but this looks much better. Time to start practicing urban camo now I guess... ( anyone has any tips on that?)
