Hey guys, I am trying to put together a simple list for my buddy who is interested in getting into the game. here is what I put together thus far;

pAsphyxious - +6
-Slayer - 6
-Nightwretch - 4
-Skarlock Thrall - 2

Max Bane Thralls - 8
-Unit Attachment - 3

Bane lord Tartarus - 4

Max Mechanithralls - 5
-2 Brute Thralls - 2

None of the folks in our meta have ever played cryx so I am looking for a straight forward list with pAsphyxious as that is the only warcaster that he has.

71 pts khador - 6 war casters
41 pts merc highborn - 3 warcasters

Instead of the brute thralls put the necrosurgeon unit in there. Much better option for the mechanithralls as you get to recycle the bodies that way.

Personally I would exchange the nightwretch for a deathripper and the slayer for another deathripper and another necrosurgeon. But that's because the threat of Breath of Corruption is a major way to assassinate.

I'd drop the Slayer for Cankerworm, assuming he doesn't already own the Slayer model. It gets a lot of mileage when coupled with Gaspy. Double arc node is always nice, but I'd have more fun running Cankerworm. Just a personal preference there. I definitely agree with tossing the Brutes in favor of a Necrosurgeon. I run Brutes in my pSkarre lists; they definitely have their use. I just wouldn't in this one at 25pts.

If I drop the slayer for the cankerworm, I would have 1 point left and the only options that I see would be to drop one brute for a necro surgeon or upgrade the nightwrech to one of the 5pt arc nodes. I liked the idea of having the nightwrech as some additional ranged support since asphyxious and his skarlock are the only other models in the list with ranged offense. Do you guys think the arc node with the acid spray attack would better than having the one brute thrall? I just think the brutes add sucha massive damage output to the mechanithralls, 8 health with that huge combo strike seems too rediculous to pass up for one point

In that situation I'd get the Cankerworm, drop a Brute, and get a Necrosurgeon. I like the spray from Defilers, but only when I have a lingering point left over. I'd keep the singular Brute Thrall around in this case. If your opponent doesn't shoot it out of the pack of Mechanithralls, it does a good job of blocking tramples and LoS to Gaspy.

Necrosurgeons are definitely better than brutes (well, in this situation at least.) Having the potential to bring three miniatures back to life can really get annoying. Brute thralls really struggle surviving as they're such juicy targets and the macthralls hardly struggle with cracking heavy armour anyway. In lists that can't keep them alove brutes often act as medium base meat shields

+1 on the cankerworm. His movement shenanigans can get really dastardly when paired with gaspy, and the ability to steal jacks weapons is just really cool. DW too much about ranged attacks, that's why we have the best speed stats and the ability to get up after we get shot:so that we can hit things harder

Rippers vs nightwretches are indeed just personal preferance, as there has been much heated debating about which on eis better in most situations. Nightwretches are a bit more offensive, but rippers have the ability to stay back to arc and can charge in with a few spells to finish off a key miniature in a pinch

Hope i helped!
