But yes, it would be unwise to do a multiple hundreds of dollars trade with a user who just joined and has one post, unless that person was willing to ship first (unlikely). Please protect yourself and as stated above, don't throw caution to the wind for something that looks "too good to be true".

No matter what, paying by Paypal and filing a complaint within 45 days is your safest bet trading on here. Also, do not send a "family and friends" payment, as this removes a lot of your protections.
