Hello one and all! After browsing this forum a few times in search for answers to questions I thought I would actually join A bit about myself - I used to play 40K when I was younger back in the early naughties - Had a few armies, Tau, Space Wolves, Imperial Guard...not sure we ever played the game correctly mind you! Although I very much enjoyed Inquisitor - fantastic game and I loved the idea of creating a narrative.
After a trip home to see my parents with my GF she noticed all my old Warhammer and expressed an interest in it...lucky me After purchasing the 'Island of Blood' Boxset (she is high elves of course) I got into a completely new area - Warhammer Fantasy which I am very much enjoying! (although using the models in the boxset with correction for points.....I have not beaten the high elves using Skaven once in over 15 games....must be doing something wrong?!?)
This re-ignited my interest in 40K and I am now rolling an Ork Army I'm not sure in what direction I want to take it but have 50 boyz, a warboss, a big mek, killa kans, deffkoptas, trukks etc so have at least a decent 1000 point army...which is useful as some old friends also decided to get back into Warhammer! (Chaose Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Elder respectively) Any suggestions on what to buy next are welcome.

Anyway - looking forward to enjoying the forum, chatting to people and just generally getting back into the scene. As my GF recently remarked - 'This is quite a nice hobby isn't it? Everyone is friendly, the staff in the store know you're name and you can spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon losing yourself in a game which is really nice......... If only it wasn't so Geeky!'

- Oh well, you can't win them all

Have you tried tarpitting? I think that's a tactic that involves throwing units as meat shields towards the enemy to stop powerful units from moving. Your clanrats come in rather large numbers (Island of Blood I believe has 2 units of 20 clanrats) so you could use them to stop the pointy-eared man-things in their tracks (well... until they've killed all your clanrats that is).

Also, welcome to Dakka! Hope you enjoy you're time here!
