I didn't see anything here for Warfare, which I am a very big fan of and highly recommend. If you are on the fence or just unsure how to jump in, I started a few articles on my website, Dust-War.com, and had one recently featured on BoLS to help people as well.

Check them out and if you have questions, feel free to ask me!

I love the models for this game and have amassed abit of a collection(can't beat the price too)

It does seem that the buzz has quieted ever since battlefront took over though. Hopefully not a bad sign.

Battlefront lost me with operation Achilles (for tactics). A few paper maps and a couple small hero sculpts minis made it a joke compared to the previous operation boxes. They must have realized that and threw in the kids toys (animals) as an afterthought. I'll round out the units listed for Achilles and then I'm out.

I've got a nephew who I've been playing a lot of Dust Tactics with, but he says he wants a game with less luck involved. How big is the jump from Dust Tactics to Dust Warfare in terms of new rules, and is the game as dependent on who gets the initiative for who takes a beating?

You do realize that Dust Studio does this, not Battlefront, right? BF just distributes the game. Not that I blame you, because I am not buying that set either just for the new Joe, who I most likely won't use. However, before you bail, you might want to wait for Babylon, which looks like it should be a big deal. Going to see Warfare and Tactics cards in the boxes, new Tactics 2.0 rules, and hopefully some solid support from Battlefront.

@Gallahad - Warfare is a proper wargame. You will be able to apply some of your Tactics understanding, but generally speaking it isn't the same game, so you will need to learn it. That being said, it is a very easy game to pick up. Most people I know with any wargamer background pick the games basics up by turn 3 of their first game. However, it is one of those games with a low learning curve, but a massive strategic/tactical curve. Winning is not about initiative. It is about being the better player - period. Lists are even secondary, in many regards. Thus far, its one of the few games where skills (from the start via Battle Builder and Terrain through to Turn 5) really, really matter most.

To jump in, just grab the Core Rulebook and go from there. Take a read of the articles I posted, those should guide you pretty well.

Ah, I was under the impression dust produced the figures, but battlefront was responsible for everything else. Regardless, dust then released a Gak set for more money than the previous sets, which had higher production values. Definitely won't be an early adopter going forward, but will sit on the sidelines.

Yea, not sure what happened with that Achilles set. The animals were a real oddball choice. However, my hopes are that with the new intro sets for Tactics and the support BF is putting up for Warfare (in the form of official unit cards!), things will be positive going forward.
