Reading, Berkshire, UK

Welcome to all my fellow wargamers and general tabletop players!

My name is Michael and I live in Reading, Berkshire, and I want to bring forward my idea, my project, that I'm currently starting.

For years I have watched fantastic sites like MiniWarGaming.com, BlueTablePainting, Beasts of War and other companies and have always wanted to take part in their battle reports....but....As I'm in the UK I'm unable to travel half way around the world to take part. So...I've come up with the idea of starting my own Table Top YouTube page and hopefully in the very near future a website. Now this isn't something exclusive to UK residents, I want this to be seen worldwide, but it gives the chance of people in the UK to show off their amazing hobby. Now this isn't limited to just 40k players. I want to get people involved in all types of games, Fantasy, Dreadball, Dreadzone, Flames of War, Napoleonic. If its a war game, or a tabletop game then we want people to be able to show it!

This is where you all come in.... The project will be called the TableTop Community, named so because I want this to be a real community driven project that is started, owned and run by the people who want to help make this happen! So what do I need?

1. The first thing I need is feedback from you the Community. I've started an e-mail account Tabletopcommunity@outlook.com so you can contact me and let me know your thoughts and how you want to be involved. I need to know whether this is something you are interested in and would like to be a part of! Would you like to come play a game of 40k and make a battle report for the world to see your beautiful miniatures. Would you like to come play a board game with a group of friends and show your tactics?

2. We need to get the best start possible with good quality equipment, this means good quality cameras and accessories, computers and programs to get it all running smoothly, and accessories such as microphones and webcams etc. I have a small amount of money saved up to put into this so I would like to know if people are willing to help fund this project. I may put up a KickStarter or Indigogo campaign if people are willing to pledge. If so I would be interested to know how much?

3. To keep it going I would need to run a typical subscription fee service. Now most sites run on multiple levels of subscriptions, I personally would like to have just one small fee every month that everyone pays. Its a community and I think that everyone should be equal and benefit the same. I would need to know how much people would be willing to pay per month for the service. Some videos will be free as per normal but others would go into a paid members section.

4. Are you a computer genius? Could you design and help run a fantastic website? Do you have top terrain and board making skills? I would like to get people to help design and create the perfect boards for everyone to play on. This could all be designed at home and then as a community we can decide which designs we like, which we want to build and get people involved in making them! Are you a top painter? Could you create videos showing your painting skills and giving tips and tricks to the world of wargaming?

5. I need as much feedback as possible and the best way to do this and get this project going is for everyone to spread the word! Please forward the link to this post along with the current e-mail address which is Tabletopcommunity@outlook.com

If this is something you feel could be a great way of starting 2014 by being part of something special, helping to create a wargaming site and channel that people of the UK could be part of then please please get in touch.

Best of luck with it all.

I've had to remove some of the identical threads you started on other boards. They weren't really related to the topics of those boards and we prefer users not to spam their messages repeatedly.

I suspect the answer lies in all the talk of money.
