The enemy uses a good set up that I have yet to really threaten. My Chaos list does pretty well, but never puts a dent in his "fortress of cover save" Here is his base of operations: Aegis with quad gun powered by 3 centurion
devs (
LC-
ML-omniscope) 2 stalkers. At least 2 scout squads in
LS storms. Always 1 drop pod of stern guard. The rest of the 2k list varies a little but this is the core, the part that I have trouble dealing with, although I have figured out the stern guard, it's the fortress that never gets touched. There is enough anti flyer that it poses a huge threat to flyers, centurions are tough and have a cover save. I might also add that my buddy is the "cover save master" that doesn't help
This is an idea of a counter to this:
HQ-1 180
company command squad
Creed
auto cannon
Astropath
T-1 80
veterans
auto cannon
T-2 315
Platoon command squad
20 infantry
20 conscripts
3
HWT 3 lascannons
Fort-1 85
Aegis-icarus lascannon
H-1 310
2 Basilisk camo cloaks
H-2 310
2 basilisk camo cloaks
H-3 360
2 punisher
ALLY GREY KNIGHT
HQ-1 / T-1 215
Coteaz, 3 plascan serv, chimera
E-1 145
vindicare
The idea is for the basilisk and
HWT's to hide behind the aegis and have creed give orders to benefit the gun line. I didn't put any gear or upgrades on the
IG blobs because of points shaving and also their purpose is to speckle field for the impending drop pod of doom. I plan to outflank the punishers due to Creed's special rule. The vindicare will man the icarus (deadly combo) and Coteaz is brought on board for the
HQ req as well as his
DS 12" bubble and steal initiative rolls pregame.
I realize I have no advancing troops but I have superior range (which will be to my advantage on long board games) I think I have plenty of troops to hold objectives. I thought about dropping punishers for some grey knights but I don't want any friendlies anywhere near where I'm going to be dropping Basilisk death circles. Any input is appreciated.
