I have an upcoming 1000pts tournment.
Just looking for any advice or suggestions with my list.

HQ

-Company Command Squad – melta guns x3 – 80pts
-Chimera – 55pts

Troops

-Veteran Squad – plasma gun x3, 115pts
-Chimera – 55pts

-Veteran Squad – plasma gun x3, 115pts
-Chimera – 55pts

-Veteran Squad – melta gun x2 – 90pts
-Chimera – 55pts

Heavy Support

-Leman Russ Battle Tank – 150pts

-Leman Russ Battle Tank – 150pts

-Hydra Tank – 75pts

Total = 995pts

Very simple and to the point list, some concerns I have is having more special weapons in the command squad than the. 3rd vet squad, if your getting that close with a IG command squad, your generally asking for STW to be given.

Command squads are just hard to keep alive when it's so easy to kill 4-5 models with flak armor for FB and Slay

That is a good point. I think ill give the veterans the extra melta and leave the command with just two. With the spare 5pts I'll probably add a flamer or krak granades to the command squad

I would say its a pretty basic list for its point cost, only concern is the hydra, most flyers will come right on and focus is as they will shoot you before you shoot them.

Doesn't the hydra have interceptor?? I'm pretty sure its an FAQ.

Any for 1k not to much wiggle room, maybe swapping the LRBT for exterminators for some better anti all its like a heavy armoured hydra that hits flyers on 6s rather then 4s but hey, twin linked, and no point difference.

Im fairly certain they dont have interceptor or I may have tried them more lol...pshhhh what am I kidding those slots are for my russes!

Hydras don't have interceptor unfortunately, but they do still work against skimmers.
If I were to remove the Hydra does anyone have any good ideas what to fill the 75pts with?

Does the hydra have sky fire? If so keep it otherwise, I would trade it for a vet squad with double flamers camping on home objective. (or 2 nade launchers or sniper rifles I just like flamers).

I know I just posted this list in someone else's thread, but I really think this is the best 1000 point guard army. It would easily kill the Hydra and the Lman Russ tanks in the list above. At 2000 points, I'd add the LRBTs back in, but at 1000, I'm pretty sure this is the ideal mech-guard.

Kaolas, if your okay with sacrificing the somewhat okay battlecannons for more points to work with in taking out the Hydra, you could go with Leman Russ Exterminators, with twin linked auto cannons you might get lucky against flyers, I guess it depends on how lucky you feel. Just throwing out there as an option.
