Good afternoon gents

Ive been playing imperial fist for years now and recently have come into buying 30 terminators ( 20 shooty + 10 assault) and 3 dreadnoughts,
this brings my army up to 35 terminators and 5 dreadnoughts.

Has anyone got any idea as to how many is too much in a 2k army and is there a way to use 3 - 5 dreads in a single game??????

Master of the Forge let's you take 6. But then you have no room for terminators or any other heavy support.

IMHO you can never have enough termies in one list. You can take a DW list with 92 termies IIRC.

Master of the forge allows 6 dreads at single force org and 12 at dual force org. BA can take upto 11 at single foc and 22 at dual foc. A seige assault vanguard can take 9 at single force org and 18 at dual force org. A seige assault vanguard with master of the forge can take 12 single force org and 24 dual force org...

The reason i was wondering is because i normally take 2 dreads in pod which work as a annoyance which i want to keep for now. But by adding 10 - 20 terms i start to lose out on core troops and heavy suport.

Normally i take

lysander
30 tact marines
5 terms th/ss
2 dreads in pods
3 centurion grav and missle
vinny
storm raven

I use 6 in my Grey Knights army . I think for normal marines termies suffer though as there are other options that can do their job for less cost. Case in point I tried to run some assault termies to deepstrike and they almost always got shot to pieces or run away from.

I am struggling with the same thing as you, but with my Black Templars. I really want to build a list that's all Terminators and Dreadnoughts, but like you said, that really cuts in to troop points.

But so far it looks like 10 or 15 terminators is the most I would field in one army. I field 10 at 1500 points. So at 2000 I could probably get in 15. but I am not sure it would be worth it to do another ten. I mean 20 terminators (with options) is almost 1000 points to itself.
