hows this?

250 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Devourers / Hive Commander (Warlord)
230 1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Devourers

45 1x Venomthrope
45 1x Venomthrope
45 1x Venomthrope

215 1x Tervigon / Clusterspine / Miasma Cannon
240 30x Termagaunts / Devourers (Flanking)

150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine
150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine
150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine

170 1x Exocrine
170 1x Exocrine
140 1x Mawloc

exactly 2000pts

I just realized that flanking the 30 Devilgaunts is a fantastic idea, they're 8pts each instead of the old 10pts each and they only need to pay 20pts (hive comander) to come in out of nowhere instead of the old 45pts of the Mycetic Spore. Its alot of dudes but its not so many points for that the sheer mass of gaunts that all have 3 str4 shots with 18" range. Thats 90 shots! 90!! from one unit! for only 260pts).

The Miasma cannon works very well with the Tervigon, 2 Blast per turn + Tervigon spawning + Psychic power makes for a very industrious 215 points troops choice Heavy MC.

Mawlocs gives you a cheap Heavy MC that will burst out blocks of defenses. I find he can really add another dimension to the game by always going back under and double blasting a spot of your choice, with Str6 autohits no armor or cove saves allowed. the Terror from beneath!!!! if anybody survives the carnage, then the deepstrike misshapp only bothers him 2/6 time. he can go even if theres a big tough guy.

I'm going for maximum anti infantry in blast templates department (up to 12 per turn, minimum Str5), then the Flyrants gun down the light vehicules and/or infantry. then the gaunt flank and blasts!!!
Any super heavy armor I'm going to try to swarm with many FMC that smash with 3 Str10 Ap2 hits each, combining a harpy to a charge with a hive tyrant is awesome due to piercing shreech, they can rip up Deamon Princes and anything really if I can get 2-3+ on it, My FMC can do this right after having blasted the crap out of some infantry in the shooting phase. Its blast and then charge. Blast and then charge.

The venomthropes should be able to cover the FMC in the first round of shooting, especially if the opponent starts first, maybe even beyond but if not then your Exocrine and Tervigons are blasting the crap out of him with a 3+cover save

I think this can work as a list
even in a competitive setting I dare say.

what does Dakka think?

Lacks synapse, against flying circus you will have trouble, relying soley on flyrants as everything else is blast or STR7 max... Miasma is also only small blast so your putting a template in the hands of a BS3 creature... Just watch your flyers against Taudar as they are only T5 and will be insta killed by STR10 anti air lance or railguns... Other than that it looks good... Lots of MCs which is scary and cool... Have you considered some Zoans?, some STR10, Synapse and psykers with invuns...

I also have Tervigon for synapse. Flyrants are forward synapse.I figure it should be enough, dont you?
how do Tau/Dar get Str10 skyfire?

Tau get anything skyfire, marker lights are a bitch, Tau is a hard counter to the new nid book because now more than ever we have to rely on our flyrants and tau can use markerlights to feth our awesome new venomthropes and flyers up.

I like the idea of 90 outflanking str. 4 shots. I had not thought of that, nor seen it talked about. Also, your tervigon points are off; that build is 220 pts.

I like it, but since when has two troops been smart at 2k points. Opponents will kill Tervigon in one turn with focused fire, and gants next when they come on. After that it's just turtling for the win or a draw at worst.

Markerlights need to hit first and if he shoots Markerlights at flyers then hes getting even less Markerlights to hit (snapshot) then if hes shooting them at non-flyer? if you want to take out his diving jink save then that 2 lights down, to bring a snapshot back to bs4 that 3 more, you would need 30 markerlight snapshots to put 5 light on a flyer. A drone controler commander with velocity tracker doesnt make the markerlight drones skyfire, I think the only dude that can add markerlights efficiently on flyers is the Skyray and even then its only 2 marker light each on bs4. A tau only has so many markerlight and the goal against Tau is always to remove his markers first to render him considerably less efficient. Paroxism and the horror I could see as being very usefull against tau too.

killing a far tervigon isnt that easy, if hes right beside your entire untouched army then yes most lists would kill it no problem but I dont think it should be that easy if I choose properly where to put the tervigon, and even though I only have 2 teams of troops they arent exactly min-sized, they can both take a lot of firepower before croaking and one of the 2 breeds more troops. if I start then I have 3 teams assuredly.
you are right about the the tervigons point cost being off but you were off too its actually 225pts (5pts for clusterspines) will recheck that in a minute

Hows this. I’m thinking going with no Tervigon and more Devilgaunts. This opens up a potential of a smaller footprint and more troops.

250 1x Hive tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Devourers / Hive Commander
250 1x Hive tyrant / Wings / 2x TL Devourers / Hive Commander

45 1x Venomthrope
45 1x Venomthrope

120 15x Devilgaunts
160 20x Devilgaunts
100 3x Warriors / Barbed Strangler
100 3x Warriors / Barbed Strangler

150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine
150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine
150 1x Harpy / Clusterspine

170 1x Exocrine
170 1x Exocrine
140 1x Mawloc

2000pts total

More Troops and more Pinning Large Blast. Less awkward since at most its gonna be 60 dices to roll per unit, total of more dices being rolled but less blocky and easier as a footprint to move around.
I think this can work.

Warriors are cool because they are synapse and can take anti-infantry/heavy infantry guns very well so until the devilgaunts come out of the opponent only has the venomthropes to aim the anti infantry guns at and those 2 are hiding as much as possible behind line of sight blocking stuff like the exocrine and bigger pieces of terrain.

what do you think now
